“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This small hotel on a side street in Mantua is very centrally located. You can walk to the main attractions within minutes. However, we found our room overlooking the street to be noisy at night when the local cafes were open. The cost was a bit high for the room and the quality of breakfast.

“Stay somewhere else---terrible management, noisy location, but lovely building”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

Hotel Broletto is beautifully decorated but badly managed by inattentive managers for whom the place is just an investment. (By the way, do not bother with the large tourist restaurant in the piazza next door---it is another investment by the "family" that runs the hotel, so the hotel staff is forced to recommend it.) This is the kind of hotel that ignores requests for simple things like clothes hangers. One morning the owner or manager was showing people around at 7 a.m. and awakened everyone on our hallway with her loud voice and clicking high heels. It wasn't easy to get a good night's sleep, in any case, because the location is very noisy (however convenient!). The ringing hotel telephone down the hall is unattended all night. The management ignores and even scorns the concerns of guests. The front desk is unattended after 11 p.m. and you are locked in after that hour (the lights are off in the entrance so good luck getting down the stairs and fumbling for the release on the front door.) Nobody answers the "emergency" phone number, even at 1 or 2 a.m. The young man who is supposed to be on duty in the hotel is busy running the restaurant in the piazza. Breakfast in the pretty breakfast room is a paltry offering of packaged starch from the local supermarket---nothing is really fresh. The young staff at the hotel are very nice, with one exception, but seem to fear the management. I wondered if the young desk clerks were under some sort of threat. They are not allowed to leave the desk to get a roll of toilet paper for you in the middle of the day.... In other words, this is the kind of sad hotel where the comfort of guests is absolutely unimportant to the money-grubbing owners or managers. They are rude, inattentive, chain-smoking control-freaks with no desire to make anyone else comfortable. Such a shame---the interior design is really quite lovely. Noise from the bars on the same street and the drunks who hang out in the arcade nearby prevented us from sleeping with the windows open at night.

Dear Customer
First of all thank you for the compliments for the furniture. Our hotel was renovated 1 year ago and is a 3 star hotel so does not provide night porter. Despite all we have a trusted person who sleeps in the hotel and is always available at any hour of the night.
During the night we can ensure that the lights are on and the Italian-style breakfast , every morning is fresh like, croissants, yogurt, cereal, bread, honey, jams, , juice, expresso, cappuccino that are first class, as well as the restorant is one of the most popular of mantua. We do not understand what is the problem if the restaurant is run by us?! The young receptionists are not forced to recommend the restaurant but they do it because they know that the food is good.
we think also that there is nothing wrong if one smokes a cigarette out from the 'hotel because inside is proibited . Sorry that you have created this idea about the hotel and the staff but we can assure you that you are wrong and hope that one day you will change the idea staying again in our hotel.
sincerely

“Beautiful but...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

This hotel was recommended for us by someone we knew. When entering the hotel, we had a good feeling: the hotel seems to be newly renovated in very beautiful, classic style. Also the room was nicely furnished, with good bed linen and toiletries. Unfortunatelly, in the bathroom, there was a very strong smell of mould, that made me avoid staying in the bathroom as much I could. In the shower, you could also see some dirt. Breakfast is included in price, which is not always like that in Italy, but it was rather modest.
Positive: very central, lots of bars and restaurants nearby (meaning, however, that it can also be rather noisy).

“Clean, comfortable and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

This hotel has obviously been recently renovated. It is now immacualtely clean and decorated in a a very modern style with lots of pale wood. It is an extremely good basic hotel, ideally situated in the centre of Mantova. A really good example of somewhere that meets its purpose and doesn't have delusions of grandeur.Would have no reservations about staying there again.
