OK first the positives: The location for the station and price were very good and the room was a reasonable size and decorated to a decent level. The breakfast was very good and the lady serving was super friendly.
Now the negatives: The room was very cold. The shower was dirty. Despite being a non smoking room it stank of stale cigarette smoke. There were no plug sockets that accepted standard European plugs (the other Italian hotels we stayed in at least had one if not several). The entry to the hotel did not make it clear where the reception was (turns out it was the reception of the ABC hotel but this was never made clear) the check in staff were not particularly friendly veering towards being rude.
The very worst thing though was on check out, there was a rail strike on (not the fault of the hotel obviously) but as my Italian was not very good I asked the receptionist for a little more information or some advice on other modes of transport. She seemed to take great delight in the fact that we were stranded, offered no advice what-so-ever and gave the impression of being, not only unconcerned by the situation of her customers but actually revelling in the fact that they were experiencing difficulties. This left a very bitter taste in the mouth and changed this from being a reasonable budget hotel into a place that I really would not recommend.
It was cheap with a good location for the station. However it was made extremely unenjoyable by the staff (except the breakfast lady) and the fact that basic aspects of the room were found wanting (heat, smell and cleanliness). Hopefully my experience was just a one off and I guess other will find this a great budget option; however I really cannot recommend this hotel.
