Hotel Boston is a clean little hotel about one block from the lake. The rooms are adequately sized and comfortable. We were on the top floor and had a small walk-out which afforded a view of the lake and the lake-front hotels.

Breakfast was a standard Italian hotel spread.

Stresa is somewhere that I had never heard of before our trip but I would recommend it to everyone as it is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in Italy. The Hotel Boston was by far the best hotel during our 2 week stay. We had a room with 2 small balconies that looked out over the lake and the view was amazing. At night you could see all the other small towns across the lake sparkling over the water. The hotel was really cute inside and the rooms were spacious and modern. The staff were really helpful and the one morning when she knew that the breakfast room was going to be full of a bus tour group the manager put a small reserved sign on a table just for us which was really nice of her. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Boston if you are looking to stay in Stresa on a budget and you won't regret going to Stresa as it is beautiful. (Make sure that you take the cable car up to Mount Montarrone on a clear day as it is awesome!!!)

We stayed at Hotel Boston the night of 9/9. We had reserved a room at Hotel Primavera but they did not have a room for us because someone did not vacate their room when they had to go to the hospital for chest pains. This is completely understandable. Hotel Primavera took us over to Hotel Boston.

We arrived at Hotel Boston at 4PM and the lady at the front desk showed us room 401 which had a nice little walkout with a view of the lake. The walkout door was open when we walked in the room. The room was very clean and neat. We left our belongings and went out to see the town and have dinner. When we returned after dinner, about 10PM, there was a very foul odor of sewer gas backup. We returned to the front desk to see if we could change rooms, because of the odor, but the man at the front desk, who reeked of alcohol and cigarettes, said there were no other rooms available. He came up to the room, flushed the toilet a few times, but said he could not smell anything. Feeling there was nothing else we could do, we left the lights and fan on in the bathroom all night long and plugged up the crack below the door with towels. The next morning we informed the woman at the front desk of the sewer gas and she was apologetic (saying she didn’t know, which could be true). Our throats and lungs burned with every breath for the next day and half. I believe the hotel knew about the problem and intentionally aired out the room before we looked at it (the patio door was open when they showed us the room). The breakfast they served was average compared with the other breakfasts we’d had the previous two weeks in Italy.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in any hotel or hostel I’ve stayed in. I would never stay in this place again. I’ve stayed at the Howard Johnson Airport Inn in Las Vegas and agree with all the scary and negative TripAdvisor reviews of it. I would stay there for a week over staying another night in Hotel Boston.

We stayed for two nights at Hotel Boston. It was not on the main road overlooking Lake maggiore, but just behind some of the really expensive hotels. Our room on the top floor had a balcony that did look out over the Lake. The front desk staff spoke fairly good English, and directed us to two nice restaurants to get meals.
If you travel to Stressa by train, the station is about 3-4 blocks away, but it is downhill to get to the hotel and lake from the station.
The rooms are simple, and I'd have to agree with other reviews that they are a little "dated". But with that said, they are very clean, and compared to the 5 star hotels around the corner, I think we got a good deal for our money.
