My wife and I stayed here while touring Italy and Lake Garda. We got the boat down from Limone and landed at central Sirmione. There was a taxi rank but no taxis (how often is this the case in this part of Italy, taxis are terrible around Garda) - just out of the castle there is a tourist info building, the woman in there very helpful, a bus around the corner leaves every 20 minutes would take us right past Hotel Clodia at a cost of €2. This I suppose would be my only criticism of the Hotel Clodia, it doesn't cater very well for people without cars. The long drive is all gravel so pulling a wheeled suitcase over it but can be quite a chore. It's only a short ride in a car so the Hotel might consider providing a pick-up service for people travelling from other parts of the lake, I'd even pay if this service was available. The Hotel itself was lovely, spotlessly clean, the room was nice: tidy, well kept and pretty good. High celing with an air-conditioner, balcony and bathroom with shower cubicle. Breakfast was pretty good, small selection of warm food and you could help yourself to as many nutella rolls as you liked. Great that you can sit outside while eating, how lovely to breakfast alfresco. The Hotel is a good 25 minute walk from Sirmione and the buses stop at 8.30 so you may wish to do like we did. Have your day in Sirmione and travel back at like 5/6 to freshen up or snooze. Then dinner somewhere near the hotel, there is a great restaurant almost opposite, on the lake front up some steps, can't miss it. Another tip is if you're spending a great deal of time in Sirmione then get some cash out before you go. There's only 2 cash machines in Sirmione and when we were there, one wouldn't accept any foreign cards and the other was out of cash. The old town is only a short walk from the hotel as well, I would say about 10/15 minutes the other way and there are few more ATMs there and more restaurants. Any questions about the hotel, Sirmione or Garda then get in touch, I love to help people with their holiday. Ciao.
