Our first trip to the lake Garda, we had our two daughters 7 and 9 with us. The hotel states its five star, and i agree with the other statements but i would say more like 4 star. We had a junior suite a queen sized bed, and a double sofa bed for the girls. The room was a little dated but we had two balconies one with a lake view, they were very clean and tidy. We found the staff to be very helpful. Breakfast is standard continental, we found the lunch buffet served around the pool very good, fresh pizza and wonderful pasta. The location is wonderful, just outside the hotel you walk through the castle walls to get to the shops, the village itself was great, loads of very good restaurants, and cafe bars. It was our daughters birthday when we where there we asked the hotel to arrange a restaurant for us which they did and that was wonderful, we went back and ate again for our last night. The hotel was quiet and very restful. I am sure we will return. We had a very good stay, and recommended it to our friends and family.

This hotel did not meet expectations, we cancelled our stay in Verona which in hindsight was not the right decision, in order to stay 2 extra nights at Grand Hotel, the hotel is sterile, uninviting it does not have any charm which is expected from a hotel of supposedly 5 star rating, the room was comfortable but certainly not 5 star, bathroom just ok, clean but that is to be expected anyhow, the dining room food and service was extremely poor, the ambience in the outdoor areas very ordinary no style or charm pretty old furniture, swimming pool just so, breakfast just ok and staff very unwilling to accomodate four guests in a selected spot outside purely because it was too much trouble, We will not reccommend or return. Certainly not value for money as it did not compare in any way with our stay at Il Pellicano the previous three days.

We stayed in Sirmione for a lovely weekend and choose the grand hotel. The staff is very friendly and polite, the hotel is clean and confortable, in an excellent position and with a good parking in front of it so you don't need to park far from the hotel. We had a junior suite beacause there were no standard rooms or superior available. The room was big and clean but the furnishing was a bit old and for the price you pay i think it is not on the level. Breakfast was excellent and during the evening there is a piano bar inside very nice.

Even if we found it good and a romantic weekend, i would not return at the grand hotel because is overpriced for what you have (we often go in 5 stars hotels, and this is almost a 4, in our opinion).
There is a nice beauty center inside with thermal pool, but you don't really need it if you go to the ACQUARIA, the thermal pool in the center of Sirmione: this is great!

We visited this hotel with a view to staying here on our next visit to Lake Garda. Hotel bar was comfortable with an excellent range of whisky and friendly barman. However, on leaving the hotel on a cool rainy night reception staff were not prepared to organise a taxi for us even although they were not busy. So much for customer care of their tourist guests!
