I have just back from a leisure holiday with my wife on the wonderful Como lake. We decided to choose Como as starting point of a three full days trip on the Como lake with a short visit to Lugano. The hotel is perfectly situated in the town center, at easy walking distance from the lake, the shopping area, the wonderful Cathedral, restaurants and post office. Hotel is very clean with lift we got a nice double room on 2nd floor, modern bathroom with shower, good breakfast (for an Italian), friendly and young staff.
Drawbacks: you could hear all noises coming from the street despite Como is a very quiet town and there are no discos or pubs around the hotel. Our room was hot, we thought it might depend on the heating. The reception told us that some rooms are hot, some are cold, depending on the central sysyem. They know that customers complain about it but no solution at the moment. Last drawback is that the hotel has no parking. If you arrive by car you have to pay €1.00 per hour in the blue stripes (from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. except Sundays and holidays) or looking for a cheaper parking (€0.50 per hour).

The marriage of our best friends brought us to beautiful Como and the Plinius Hotel, where many of the guests were staying. What a truly fantastic time we had. The friendliness and humour of the staff at Hotel Plinius topped off the weekend! The Plinius may be just a 3 star hotel, but its staff are of 5 star calibre, showing you what difference a laugh and a smile can make in the service sector and life in general. There is a free lesson here for all of us! In short, we found this a really pleasant place to stay.

I stayed only one night at Hotel Plinius, but I wish it could have been more. It's directly down the road from the S. Lucia train station and only a block back from the water. It's quiet enough (I didn't hear any loud traffic noises while I was there) of a location, but Como is small enough anyway to walk around.

The room was really lovely (a bit on the small side). It had very modern furnishings, a neat little "Do Not Disturb" button and a fabulous shower. There was a tv, safe, minibar, air con, desk, wardrobe and completely mechanical shutters.

Staff were lovely and helpful and were great for a chat.

I would definitely stay here again, and I really want to go back to Como!

The hotel was a good 10 min walk from station thru Como, not bad if traveling on the lighter side. The rooms/bathrooms were clean, typical European size. The staff were helpful, breakfast was fine. Nothing horrible about stay, nothing outstanding,either
close to the water and certainly met our needs for one night..
