“Good, Clean and Efficient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

To us this hotel’s best features include a beautiful roof garden (which include a nice restaurant next to a beautiful pool), very helpful staff and very nice breakfast facilities. The rooms are clean and spacious. Note that Hotel Como is NOT close to the lake or the old city and there are currently (September 2011) big construction taking place in front (next to the hotel) of the hotel, which we found very noisy and disturbing. In general – worth the 3 stars, good value, but don’t expect more.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your helpful review and constructive criticisms. I am glad you appreciated our Roof Garden, our Grill restaurant, the spacious room, our buffet breakfast and our staff; all of which are normally amongst our strong points. Hotel Como is indeed situated at approximately 20 minutes walking distance from the lake front and the old part of town as stated on our website. I am sorry if this wasn’t clear upon booking our hotel and I would be very grateful if could advise on what website you found such misleading (if any) information.
We are aware of the inconveniences caused by the construction site (which does not belong to our property) in front of our hotel and I am very sorry that these were a nuisance to you during your stay. Whenever possible, we try to assign our guests rooms that are facing the inner court, away from the works and noise. This may not have been possible due to the hotel being fully booked in September.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Hotel Como will be closed until February 29th 2012 for refurbishing works in which the majority of our rooms will be restyled and rennovated.

I do hope that you will have the chance to stay at our hotel once again in future and perhaps try one of our new rooms.

Kindest regards,
General Manager

Old hotel, no guaranteed parking, the room is spacious but the decor is depressing, absolutely no view, breakfast is basic, location ok. walking distance from downtown.
definitely not a good value for money hotel, I wouln't recommend it unless as a last resort. many more better options in the area.

Dear Guest,

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy staying at Hotel Como, please accept our most sincere apologies the inconveniences during your stay. Some of our rooms are more modern than others, unfortunately you were assigned one of the less modern rooms due to the hotel being fully booked during your stay. I understand we have some structural problems, some of which are quite difficult to change although we are currently renovating a number of rooms so that they will look and feel more modern in future. Nevertheless, all guest reviews are always appreciated, even the negative ones. This enables us to improve our standards as we aim to deliver services of the highest quality.

Best regards,
General Manager

“Total disaster - not recommended, stay out of room 201!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

people found this review helpful

Well. Where to start? First of all - this is NOT a 4-star hotel by any meanings. I have stayed in hostels with better quality to be frank!

Before booking this hotel I had to make sure parking was included and since Hotel Como offered free hotel-parking according to Hotels.com we booked one night here. Upon arrival we get to meet an extremely unfriendly and almost hostile hotel receptionist (Nadia). Sadly we interrupted her dinner and she started yelling about that parking was full so I had to park on the street. Of course, this is not OK in my opinion but arguing with her is like talking to a wall. Important to say is that the first impression of the area is that its dodgy, full of graffiti and doesn't feel safe to put a €50k car at night.

With this in mind we hoped that the room would be OK at least, but this was a huge disappointment. The room, no 201, was like a prison cell with bars in the windows. The general feeling was that you were back in the early 90's. Worn down furniture and floors with scratches. Also the cleaning was poor, we found lots of long black hairs in the bed. Yuck!

Worst of all was the bathroom and the lack of cleaning of it. Shower was quit disgusting with dirt between tiles and shower had bad pressure.

Any thing positive? Well. Not much to be honest but free wifi in the room, even though it felt like using an old 56,6k modem. Breakfast buffe OK.

Summarized: if you get room 201, make sure you get it changed. It was fully booked at the hotel during our stay so we lacked the possibility of this.

Ps. I almost forgot the thing that really pissed me of most. We both couldn't get no sleep since doors were slamming all night and toilets flushing. Felt like sleeping on a truck ferry. In the morning I told this to the receptionist (Nadia again) and she just couldn't care less! What a rip off!

Stay OUT!

Room Tip: Avoid room 201

Dear Guest,
I am very sorry to hear about the bad service you experienced during your stay at Hotel Como. Please accept our most sincere apologies. We will do our best to dedicated more time to the training of our staff and I will personally make sure to rectify the attitude of those responsible for the inconveniences caused. I have duly checked with our housekeeping the various aspects you mentioned and we will make sure that such annoyances do not occur again in future.

We are aware that the hotel has some structural difficulties which are quite complicated to overcome but we strive to deliver the highest of standards at all levels. Most of our rooms are very spacious, unfortunately you were assigned one of the smaller rooms because the hotel was fully booked. Some of the rooms are undergoing refurbishment and in future we aim to offer more modern and pleasant accommodation.

Our hotel has a limited outdoor car park and small indoor garage. Unfortunately it is not possible to book a car park in advance; there are however public car parks nearby and the area is safe despite it looking not as attractive as one would expect.

We greatly appreciate all reviews from our guests as they help us to highlight any weak points in our organization and enable us to react rapidly and put remedy. Should you contemplate returning to Como in future, we would be more than pleased to be given a second chance and ensure you have a memorable stay.

Best regards,
General Manager

“Lovely Hotel and Very Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We stayed for one night. The Hotel is pretty central and very modern. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Beware - To use the outdoor pool you need to wear a swim cap. Unfortunately we only found out when at the poolside.

The rooms were very clean and the air con was good. The only problem being that it was quiet noisy. We could hear others in their rooms and ladies walking with high heels.

The car parking was excellent.

“Would recommend this Hotel to anyone staying in the Como area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

Nestled close to the Swiss border on the shores of Lake Como the area has good access to and from Milan Malpensa airport. This is a great hotel, clean roomy well serviced room, friendly and helpful staff, above average breakfast with a large variety of choices. Hotel is located within a 5 minute taxi ride from the station. Roof top open air restaurant with bbq area and swimming pool, Servings were a bit average for the price, drinks were slightly overpriced, but a never the less a great area to relax in at days end, after exploring the city and the lake. Only drawback while we were staying was the slightly noisy building site next door but this no way detracted from the hotels ambience. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying Como.
