We had a lake view room which I would recommend as the option to sit on the balcony and take in the views is well worth the extra. The hotel was very clean and housekeeping was to a high standard. The rooms were sizeable but did tend to get noisy in the morning with the market starting up and street cleaning but thats hardly the fault of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well stocked with a good variety and the coffee bettered many cafes we stopped at. We were a bit aprehensive after reading some reviews but our experience was very good and we would be happy to return to Barchetta Excelsior.

The view is fantastic and the location much the same. The staff really go the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. I slept with the balcony door open therefore got a fair amount of noise in the morning but this is not the fault of the hotel. Some aspects of the rooms are a little dated but since I have stayed here twice in the last 5 weeks - things must be good! A great place to base yourself for a few days adventure on the lake. Truly a beautiful place to end my Italian holiday

Stayed 3 nights in October. Hotel in ideal position just 2 mins from the lake,magic. Could not fault the cleanliness of hotel or room. Neither could we fault the efficiency and friendliness of the staff at the desk. Breakfast was all we needed and very fresh. Lovely township, lovely lake and great restaurants if you go looking. Fantastic views from the funicular. Would recommend the location and the hotel to anyone travelling to that part of Italy.

Great value for the location, the views from the lake view rooms are amazing. Rooms are of a very high quality, well equipped and maintained with an excellent bathroom. The staff were all friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Como. My only quibble would be I found the breakfast a little average with a lack of good Italian coffee.
