“Beautiful Bellagio”

Our room at Hotel Centrale had a peek of the lake, was a good size with tiny ensuite. It is a family run estabishment and someone always available to help with information. Breakfast was a selection of yoghurts, fresh fruit, assortment of buns and coffee to order. There are a lot of steps coming up to hotel from where ferry docks, so be prepared!
We loved Bellagio, one of the untouched beauties of the world. Life goes on as it always has, and there are wonderful delis, wine shop, bakeries, and charming shops. There were a number of restaurants, and Marcello or Michaeli were on hand to advise. Our nicest dinner was a selection of deli food, Italian wine which we enjoyed on the hotel terrace. There are lots of cafes down on waterfront to have a great coffee and "people watch." We had three days so had time to travel by ferry to other villages. One day went down to Como, but best side trip was to Villa del Balbianello. got ferry to Tremezzo, and got off at Lenno. We struck it lucky with day, as were able to walk through wooded area to villa - about 1 Km. The site is spectacular, and guided tour is a must, as last owner was an explorer, and one room is dedicated to his trips to Nth Pole, and expedition up Mt. Everest.

Room Tip: Room sizes vary, and we saw one on third floor with armchairs which looked more comfortable. Worth c...

“You can do so much better”

Stayed there for 4 nights in October. The hotel is crummy and dated. You can find much better in the area. The owner/ manager tried to charge me twice as i wanted a slightly smaller room instead of the bigger one given to me.

They are fluent in english until you have a problem, then they cannot understand you. Bunch of con men.

“A Gem!”

My wife and I had just left Cinque Terre, otherwise we would have been a bit daunted by the stairs from the front street to the hotel entrance. But, we climbed the 64 stairs up to the hotel courtyard, to find a beautiful garden entrance. I turned out that the location was actually a plus – Bellagio is on the side of a hill so we were in the heart of the town.

The family that has run this hotel for many years are both very friendly and helpful. The two sons/brothers, Marcello and Michaeli, both went out of their way to help. Pointed out good places to see, eat – and places to avoid.
Rooms very comfortable with aircon and opening windows. Quiet surroundings. WiFi available in central areas, cable supplied for room if desired. Breakfasts in a main dining area, with good selection of cereals, yogurts, meats, cheeses – and excellent coffee!

Tip #1) When first arriving walk to the left from ferries, around the curving street, then angle right along the level street to Salita Plinio, then carry suitcases DOWNhill.

Tip #2) From Hotel Centrale walk uphill to the main road, turn right, and look for the first gelateria on your left. If you’re in the right place, they sell Pistachio Bronte, which HAS to be the best pistachio ice cream in the recorded history of man….

“Wonderful time at Hotel Centrale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Hotel Centrale was a great affordable hotel in Bellagio. While it does not have lake views, the service and wonderful family (Giacomo, Marcello, and Michele) run hotel was splendid. They gave great restaurant and sight seeing advice and it was just nice chatting with them about Bellagio. The location of the hotel was quite good as it was close to all restaurants and shopping. The only downside we had was the beds were quite hard and the pillows flat, but other than that it was a very nice stay and we overlooked these due to the exceptional service! The breakfast was enough to start the day! We had an early train ride the last morning and wasn't able to have their buffet, but of course Marcello had a solution. He provided a continental breakfast (asst breads, coffee, and juice) the night before so that we had breakfast for the early morning. Hotel Centrale does have wifi in their lobby and they do provide an ethernet cord for laptop use in the room. We enjoyed our stay and recommend Hotel Centrale! You won't be disappointed!!!
