“Grand Hotel at a Bargain Price??”

Yes, it's possible and I don't know if very many people know about it. We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and it has become a "second home" to us whenever we decide to go to Lake Como! I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else b/c this hotel has the BEST location, GORGEOUS views, wonderful staff that are like family, AND the best pool on Lake Como by far! The first time we stayed here we were on our 20th Wedding Anniversary and splurged on a hotel room. We were treated by the hotel to one of the BEST rooms as a surprise upgrade! It was the sweetest thing and it moved me to tears. We decided to come back the next summer with our three daughters and looked into the hotel rooms but it would have been just too much money for us. The staff at the hotel let us know about their apartments though and I"m so glad they did! It's hard to locate information on their website about the apartments, but it's there at the bottom and they are the BEST deal in town and you get just about all the hotel amenities included as well. The apartments rent a week at a time from Saturday to Saturday and they are located on the property, right behind the hotel on a lovely walking path through their grounds. The apartments are above the spa building and work out perfectly for families or couples! We've rented one large apartment and we've also rented two small apartments next to each other. This just makes so much more sense for a family and it's the best value by far. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Bellagio b/c you get so much for your money in the apartments AND you still get to enjoy the hotel pool, their beautiful grounds and the music room at night! The apartments are not opulent like the hotel, but they are great for families or couples who want a bit more space plus a kitchen and living area to relax in. I may be telling the world a secret and now it will be harder to book the apartments, but if you want to enjoy this Hotel without feeling like you're spending too much, try it! I'm hoping to go back again soon so I better get my reservation in quick! :)

Room Tip: All the apartments have balconies, but only some have a lake view. If you request a lake view, you...

“Beautiful Location, but overpriced and a bit stuffy.”

This hotel is probably in the best location on Lake Como. The Gardens are lovely and go down to the lakeside from where you can enjoy wonderful views and lovely sunsets - a haven of peace from the hectic streets filled with tourists in the village of Belagio. The staff were friendly and polite up to a point - I was a little disappointed in this respect . The room was of adequate size but the overall decoration was a bit faded as was the rest of the Hotel. It badly needs an upgrade.
The food in the restaurant was good but too expensive for what it was. Similar quality meals could be had in other restaurants of Belagio at half the price. A piano trio played during the meal and throughout the evening in the main lounge which was fun. The breakfast buffet was not as good as I would expect in a Hotel of this caliber and price.
Overall the Hotel has an air of being stuck in a bygone age and, as well as needing an upgrade, it is a bit stuffy and too expensive.
Unfortunately because of the fantastic location and lack of local competition in the 5 star bracket, the owners obviously feel they can charge top prices without supplying the service to match.

Room Tip: Lake view are the best but very expensive.

Although rooms needed updating, the service was outstanding. Amazing views, fabulous dinners, and friendly staff made this expensive hotel worth it. Truly a very special destination in Italy. We took a train from Milan to Lake Como. Then we hired a driver from this hotel to pick us up,( and drive us around the winding road back to the hotel.) Walk to shops, little cafes, and a nice park. My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much. We went June 2008

“Dream wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Absolutely amazing hotel in the most stunning location. We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of the season (1st and 2nd April) and had a small wedding reception at the hotel restaurant for 12 people. The staff were so attentive and the service at our reception dinner was beyond amazing. We also had canapes mid afternoon on the terrace and our guests still can't stop raving about the quality of the food and service..and the view. All guests were upgraded to lake view rooms and we were upgraded to the most amazing suite in the hotel for our wedding night. Nothing was too much trouble. The most wonderful 2 days were had and we will definitely be returning in the future for our wedding anniversary(s).

“I have died and gone to Heaven!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

By far, the most amazing hotel in the Lakes region. I am a big fan of Villa d'este and love it, but this takes it to a higher level. The views are the best on the lake, hands down. The outdoor terrace restaurant can't be beat. Of course, the view and the luxury comes with a price. A very high price. Extremely high price. Like take out a second mortgage kind of price. No, seriously, don't do that, but be prepared to sign a very large tab. The town is utterly charming, with plenty of great shopping, lovely little cafes and a wonderful lakeside boardwalk. A perfect place to spend a few days with views of the lake and mountains that can't be beat.
