“i liked this hotel!”

im surprised after reading the reviews for this hotel. the hotel is what it is, a basic pension style hotel in a good location. we knew this before we went and were satisfied with it. the room are quite basic but they're clean and the hotel location is just amazing.we had a lovely view from our hotel room onto the street looking up to the square. the staff were a typical italian family and the hotel had a nice family local atmosphere. the big bonus was the restaurant. the food is really nice and i'd reccommend it even if you weren't staying there.we missed lunch hours one day but one of the restaurant staff offered us a simple meal of pasta and tomato sauce and it was gorgeous! anyway id reccommend this hotel for location but it's more like a pension than a hotel to be honest.

“The most unfriendly hotel in Italy?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2006

This hotel has an unparalleled location - just a stone's throw from the famous duomo and its piazza. The owners (who run the restaurant below too) were however unsmiling and unfriendly - a rarity in Italy. They readily changed our room to a quieter one at the back, but would not countenance a double bed for two men. They were not unpleasant or aggressive, but it was as if they didn't see you, and did not recognise you from one day to the next. Can't quibble about the price - 65 euros a night, which is a bargain. It is cheap (the restaurant has good food and pizzas, but the service is again efficient but unsmiling - one waitress we named Mrs Danvers...) and central, but don't expect them to be grateful for choosing their hotel!

“Dream becomes a Nightmare - Hotel a Big Disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2005

Period of stay: Sept. 5, 2004 for three nights. Had looked forward to staying at this romantic little hotel, so close to Plaza Duomo. Turned out to be not as expected, nor as reviewed by previous Tripadvisor reviewer. Elevator was not working, and I have problems going up stairs. First room I had, had a nice view of rooftops, but the washbasin wasn't properly connected to the drainline; owner was very surprised and annoyed that this happened and almost accused me of doing it. Second room looked over a courtyard with hotel kitchen below and was very basic, not even 1 star. It was very hard to lock the door to the room and there was no security chain. Hotel owner (from Naples?) was very nosy about my comings and goings, and continually shouted at his staff like they were slaves. The breakfast that was supposed to be included, I only ate once, because of the owner and staff shouting at each other all the time and from then on I ate breakfast at a little bar nearby facing the Duomo. I had planned to stay a week, I only stayed 3 nights. My Italian friend, whom I visited, was very disappointed I left so early and I left with a heavy heart. I am in love with Cremona and will be back again.

“Wonderful old hotel”

We stayed at the hotel Duomo a few years ago. it is situated on a closed to traffic street, in the center of old Cremona. The hotel is just steps away from the palatso containing (Il Duomo) and the center of ancient violin making. The hotel is clean and inexpensive. Our room had a balcony overlooking the charming center of activity..
