“Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We ate at the restaurant. It was noisy. The daughters of the owners came in with friends (group of young adults) and were talking loudly. Another man came in with them and the normal conversation was what I would call yelling. When he began managing the cash register, I realized he was one of the owners. We came in towards the end of the lunch hour and service was slow as the staff was sitting down to eat. Everyone has to eat, but I was supprised to see one of the cooks come out of the kitchen and stick his fork into one of the food display cases, pick something out, and begin eating it while still standing there. The food is typical food from Cremona, but the staff is not from Cremona - it was still good, but I would have expected locals. The location is great. The food was not bad. The experience left something to be desired.

“Good surprise”

When all the larger hotels in Cremona were filled up--it turned out a big conference was being held in town--I made reservations at the Hotel Duomo. I was a little nervous about the reservation since they didn't even ask for a credit card as a guarantee. But when we arrived at 11 am they were ready for us and had a room available. Fortunately it was on the first floor, because the ride we took up on the elevator the first time was harrowing. From then on we walked. Our room was on the front of the hotel (#19) might have been noisy due to the restaurant downstairs, but with the window closed and AC on, noise was no problem. Plus the restaurant and street cleared out around 11 pm, and the place was totally quiet. The room was medium-sized. I expected something in the folklore style, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a room that had evidently been recently redone--white tile floor, white walls, blond, functional wood furniture. Bathroom also medium-sized.Everything spotlessly clean. The only negative was the lumpy pillows. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was a traditional European breakfast with coffee, rolls, and juice. However, other people staying there requested cheese and meat, and were given a large plate of local products. Parking is in a public underground parking garage at 10 euros a night. it was about 150 yards away and was quite convenient. As was the location of the hotel, just down the street from the Duomo--a thrilling sight from our window. This hotel has its picturesque sides, including the three-generational family that runs it. It seems like the real deal, old-style small hotel over a restaurant. We were delighted, and if that suits your expectations, I would definitely go for this inexpensive and centrally located albergo.

“Basil would be proud...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2009

I'm not sure why this hotel has a 3 star rating, the bedroom was almost bare, the shower cubicle was broken and the staff quite unhelpful. When we booked we checked with two different people that there was parking available but when we arrived we were directed to a public car park (payment required) about 200m away. While I was having a shower a member of staff came to our room to complain that the water was leaking into the restaurant downstairs! Clearly their ancient plumbing is my fault. The mattress and pillows were among the least comfortable I've ever encountered, not that sleep was forthcoming as any noise from other guests echoed loudly down the corridor. The positive aspects of the hotel are its excellent central location and the good quality food in the attached restaurant. Perhaps the owners should concentrate on the cooking and forget about the hospitality industry altogether....

“Excellent value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

we stayed for 3 days. The room was air condtioned with a good shower and effective double-glazing. The hotel is within yards of Cremona's central Piazza, so the location could not be better. The busy restaurant downstairs serves good food at reasonable prices. Booking would have been easier if the hotel used e-mail but unfortunately you have to use the fax. It was excellent value at 75 euros including breakfast.

“i liked this hotel!”

im surprised after reading the reviews for this hotel. the hotel is what it is, a basic pension style hotel in a good location. we knew this before we went and were satisfied with it. the room are quite basic but they're clean and the hotel location is just amazing.we had a lovely view from our hotel room onto the street looking up to the square. the staff were a typical italian family and the hotel had a nice family local atmosphere. the big bonus was the restaurant. the food is really nice and i'd reccommend it even if you weren't staying there.we missed lunch hours one day but one of the restaurant staff offered us a simple meal of pasta and tomato sauce and it was gorgeous! anyway id reccommend this hotel for location but it's more like a pension than a hotel to be honest.
