“Badly in need of an update and makeover!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

This hotel is way past its sell by daye and urgently needs a makeover.

I certainly wouldn't describe the building as historic and neither was it "near" the railway station. It is located on a very busy and very noisy juntion of two busy roads. If you like to have your windows open be prpared not to get much sleep.

The rooms themselves are very dark and depressing and not helped by the dismal decor. The actual facilities are functional and basic and the bathrooms are certainly not up to expected international standards for a city centre hotel. The Tv was positioned so high up that the only way you could watch it comfortably was by lying fully down on the bed.

The breakfast terrace on the roof is poorly covered and I wouldn't want to eat there in winter, not that it was that tempting any time of the year. The breakfast buffet was very poor and consisted mainly of cake/buscuit type confectiony and the bread was some of the worst paper thin white pap I have ever seen. Considering we went to Italy for the food this was a very bad advert. The elevator (which is the only way to reach the terrace) must be the slowest I have ever come across, and during busy periods made things very difficult, especially as it only held 3 people.

All in all a major disappointment and not a place to be recommended.

“Very friendly staff and good position nearby the Old Town”

We stayed 3 nights at hotel and visited daily in fantastic Old Town. Very friendly people in the reception and also good english spoken. Hotel is situated nearby the railway station and some traffic noise could be heard at night time. New towels every morning is, in my opinion, good service. Breakfast at the top of hotel roof gave good scenary over the Bergamo city. I sure want to visit this place again in the near future.

Best priced hotel and for 30 euro's a night single with shared bathroom in a city, you cant go wrong.

Staff are curteous and friendly and willing to accomodate. The rooms are small but clean and well furnished.

The reception is onlt open 7am -> 12pm.

Good views from the windows and no trouble even at sat nights.

Unique Qualities: Good vending machines dispensing hot drinks and quick snacks for 0.55 euro and a selection of magazines available.
TV in rooms

Comparison: less expensive than average
Prices: US$20-40

“Basic accommodation close to railway station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

The family room on the ground floor was dark with only a small window opening to a noisy street. Smelling like air freshener, the room was reasonably clean. Decor was very basic and would definitely benefit from refurbishment.

Poor value at 120€ for a quad room without breakfast, but served the purpose as we had to catch an early flight from BGY airport.

All in all, the hotels in Bergamo seem to have inflated prices probably thanks to Ryanair flying increasing numbers of travelers to the town. Therefore, it is worth considering staying in Milan, instead.

“good for travellers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2009

Nice hotel, nothing wrong with it , definitely a good find for those in transit as is close to the bus and train station but might be inclined to look further towards the old town in staying in Bergamo for any length of time.

our room was a bit small and dark, but we had been provided with a small tower fan to get us through the very hot night. we only stayed one night, to finish off our holiday before flying out of Orio Al Serio Airport which is only about 10 minutes away by bus. we found it a bit of a chore to find as there are none of the hotel signs that seem to be there for every other hotel and which we were told to look out for. BUT, turn left at the bus station (opposite McDonalds) and you should find it quite easily. Breakfast has to be paid for seperately , we didn't but our friends were very impressed by the breakfast room up on the roof which you can only get to by lift.

This hotel is a bit of a trek from anything of tourist interest, the old town is absolutely lovely, but it is relatively near to the shopping area and the middle of the new town.
