This hotel is way past its sell by daye and urgently needs a makeover.
I certainly wouldn't describe the building as historic and neither was it "near" the railway station. It is located on a very busy and very noisy juntion of two busy roads. If you like to have your windows open be prpared not to get much sleep.
The rooms themselves are very dark and depressing and not helped by the dismal decor. The actual facilities are functional and basic and the bathrooms are certainly not up to expected international standards for a city centre hotel. The Tv was positioned so high up that the only way you could watch it comfortably was by lying fully down on the bed.
The breakfast terrace on the roof is poorly covered and I wouldn't want to eat there in winter, not that it was that tempting any time of the year. The breakfast buffet was very poor and consisted mainly of cake/buscuit type confectiony and the bread was some of the worst paper thin white pap I have ever seen. Considering we went to Italy for the food this was a very bad advert. The elevator (which is the only way to reach the terrace) must be the slowest I have ever come across, and during busy periods made things very difficult, especially as it only held 3 people.
All in all a major disappointment and not a place to be recommended.
