“Fine for a stopover.”

This hotel is comfortable, clean and friendly, and walking distance of the Railway Station. I thought it was good value. Bergamo is a lovely town full of interest and good food. Stop here rather than Milan! Lake Como is 20 miles or so, fabulous. You can ski not far north of here too, With Ryanair I did 4 nights so it's a lot cheaper and more flexible than a package. I went midweek and the slopes were empty.

“Saved by Romeo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Having been let down by the accommodation we booked in Bergamo, the gentleman at this hotel who we (4 ladies) nicknamed Romeo, let us book in at a very late hour on a very wet night and then organised for us to go to a restaurant so we could eat as we had been travelling all day. He was so helpful and even impressed us by speaking a phrase in Irish!! Even though it is a two star hotel in need of a little TLC, it was spotless and had very comfy pillows. Five star service in a two star hotel. Would definitely stay again.

“Good choice for a reasonable price”

The hotel is well accessible for travelers by train or Ryanair low-cost airlanes arriving to Orio al Serio airport. Good hub for making short 1-day trips to Milano, Brescia, Verona, etc. Our family used the triple room in the ground floor. I must now confirm that some critical opinions written here previously are true, BUT ... We spent in this small hotel 5 nights without any problems, since there is almost no railway traffic during the night. The described lack of daily light is obviously not a problem for those who want to sleep there ;-) The staff was not brillant in English, but always willing to understand and help. The breakfast was good, although we missed some fruits. Shall we warn you of something in Bergamo, then surely you should avoid the attempt to buy a railway tickets in its railway station, otherwise be prepared for hourly queues, closed ticket desks and only two automated machines. Instead of it use the opportunity to buy tickets in some large stations like Milano-Centrale.

“Badly in need of an update and makeover!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

This hotel is way past its sell by daye and urgently needs a makeover.

I certainly wouldn't describe the building as historic and neither was it "near" the railway station. It is located on a very busy and very noisy juntion of two busy roads. If you like to have your windows open be prpared not to get much sleep.

The rooms themselves are very dark and depressing and not helped by the dismal decor. The actual facilities are functional and basic and the bathrooms are certainly not up to expected international standards for a city centre hotel. The Tv was positioned so high up that the only way you could watch it comfortably was by lying fully down on the bed.

The breakfast terrace on the roof is poorly covered and I wouldn't want to eat there in winter, not that it was that tempting any time of the year. The breakfast buffet was very poor and consisted mainly of cake/buscuit type confectiony and the bread was some of the worst paper thin white pap I have ever seen. Considering we went to Italy for the food this was a very bad advert. The elevator (which is the only way to reach the terrace) must be the slowest I have ever come across, and during busy periods made things very difficult, especially as it only held 3 people.

All in all a major disappointment and not a place to be recommended.

“Very friendly staff and good position nearby the Old Town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

We stayed 3 nights at hotel and visited daily in fantastic Old Town. Very friendly people in the reception and also good english spoken. Hotel is situated nearby the railway station and some traffic noise could be heard at night time. New towels every morning is, in my opinion, good service. Breakfast at the top of hotel roof gave good scenary over the Bergamo city. I sure want to visit this place again in the near future.
