Loved the location of this hotel, we got it reasonably priced for it's location in the Citta Alta. The rooms are nice, but I would recommend requesting a balcony when you book (room 109 has a huge one!!). Breakfast is continental style and of a very good standard. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. There is no restaurant in the hotel but no shortage of all types of restaurants nearby, although I wouldn't recommend the one right next to the hotel - the staff were rude, the food expensive and some of our party found it inedible.
The building work that has been mentioned is to extend the hotel, but they have found some archeological remains so these have to be investigated, which is holding up progress; they didn't cause us any problems. If you want total peace and quiet, with the extra building going on then perhaps this may not be for you at the moment but do go there when completed.
There is a bus stop about five mins walk from the hotel which will take you into the lower town but I'd highly reccomend using the funicular railway.
