“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

Postive comments:
- close to railway station and airport bus stop
- good sound insulation via double-glazed windowns and shutters so street noise is quite low given it is on busy round-about
- rooms are clean and neat
- inexpensive
Negative comments
- smoke detector beeped three separate times in room during night to indicate low battery
- if you arrive in car, there is no entrance to hotel where you can stop car to unload, You have to park in oarking station and walk ith luggage around 100 m
- if you leave for an early flight, you don't get breakfast (not unusual)
- rooms are very basic
- hot water has to run for 10 minutes before it is hot
- wifi is expensive but there is one pc in lobby for 1 Euro/half hour

In short, hotel is inexpensive but there are better ones in town, closer to old city,

“OK for a few nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

I have stayed in Bergamo a few times (great city) and fancied a change from the usual hotel, so tried the Piemontesse.

The rooms are a little small (but normal sized by Italian standards), simple, modern and clean. Perfectly adequate for a few nights.

No free internet in rooms, which is not good for a business traveller and the machine in the lobby, whilst on 1 euro for 30 minutes was in constant use as guests booked-in on-line for their flights home.

Bathroom was one of the best I've ever had in Italy. Modern, (very orange) but with a new, and propper sized shower! (Still no bath though!).

Breakfast was OK, but not as good as other places I've stayed in the city, but it was simple and adequate.

Overall, I would stay here again.

“Bad service. They´ve charged me although I haven´t been there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

I made a reservation with this hotel for one night, with a webpage that allowed me to cancel it with only a day in advance free of charge. The payment should be done directly in the hotel.

They tried to charge me the amount of the money for three times, and told me that they would cancel my booking in case i didn´t pay. So I finaly paid them

But then I had to cancel my stay. I did it three days before our arrival. Although they just needed 5 minutes to charge me, they told me it could last 10 DAYS to have my money back. Well, it´s been 12 days since then and I still don´t have my money.

As you see, you cannot confide on them, as they´ve lied me, and have charged me as a "guarantee", though they don´t guarantee you to get your money back

Be careful!

“Convenient location, very friendly, good for children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

Piemontese was our one-night stopover in Bergamo before boarding a flight out of Italy. Still, it was a very good experience - especially after staying three nights in a hotel that was not as friendly towards families with children. Upon request, Piemontese bought and provided a potty for our three-year old son, and otherwise arranged the room to suit a family. All of the staff spoke average to good english, were very helpful in everything, and had a good attitude: if the child is happy, the parents will be happy.

Location is excellent: just across the railway station square. Still, traffic did not disturb us. The room was newly refurbished, felt roomy and very clean. Breakfast was ample, had something for everyone, and was served at a suitable hour considering our early flight from nearby Orio al Serio airport.

We can recommend Hotel Piemontese to everyone, and will book again if we visit Bergamo.

“A good location can also mean road noise...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2009

Two separate stays in September... a Saturday night and a Tuesday night... on both occasions, I had a room at the 'front' of the hotel, that is, looking towards the railway station and MacDonalds. No problem the Saturday night but Tuesday night the road noise went on well into the night and started early the next morning.

Five reception staff encountered, four of whom were very pleasant. Staff at breakfast were not quite in the same league... Both bedrooms (second and first floors) were acceptable - it is a three star hotel, not four, and Bergamo accommodation is a little pricey.

As a previous reviewer has mentioned, make sure you use the airport - city bus ticket again to take the funicular up to Citta Alta.
