“Great location for exploring the old city and beyond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights in December 2011. Initially we had wanted to stay in the old city but ultimately were very happy with our choice of location. It was very easy to visit the old city during the day and being able to wheel your luggage across from the station when you arrived and easily transit to other places in the region was magic. The rooms are very comfortable with good bathrooms. Breakfast not amazing but does the job. Same could be said for the staff. Seems as if many people only stay here if transiting through briefly but we found the location so convenient that it's well worth considering even if staying longer.

“Perfect for exploring the Citta Alta”

Easy to access from the airport and train station (straight opposite) as well as easy access to bus depot. The Hotel has a secure carpark (10 euro per day but well worth it). The newly refurbished room was perfect for our overnight stay. A short walk across the road to the bus station and a direct service up to the old city (Citta Alta). The Piemontese offered great value for money. We paid just 99euro including the car parking fee and breakfast for one night. The breakfast was much better than we expected. The hotel has a restaurant/pizzeria which is currently being refurbished - we were disappointed not to be able to use this. We will be going back to see it!

Room Tip: The room we had was perfect-good soundproofing because the hotel is near the main road. Don't kn...

“Convenient location....”

After paying 99 euros a night for a triple room our initial reaction when we saw the hotel from outside- not good. But inside it wasn't actually that bad. Answer had an early flight we arrived early but they did not give us the room as opposed to quite a few hotels in other countries.

Anyway, room we got was on the third floor and facing the road which was PRETTY noisy being the main road so we weren't happy about that. Otherwise room was spotlessly clean, bathroom was large but hot water took a few minutes to come. No shelves in the room. AND no English channels on television, very disappointing!

Wifi is free in the hotel now. We weren't charged.

Breakfast was okay, nothing great but the coffee was instant( yuk) they have a proper coffee making machine inside so if you ask the breakfast lady she 'll get you a proper coffee without charge.

Luggage room is unmanned so leave luggage at your own risk!

All in all our experience was okay as we travelled to few places(day trips) it was convenient to be near the station.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back, not facing the road.

“Great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We've stayed in Bergamo before, but always in Citta Alta. This time we just needed an overnight prior to catching a flight home, and chose this hotel largely because of its location - close to station and airport bus service. I'd expected a budget hotel close to the train station to be pretty grim. But the worst part of this is it's somewhat forbidding exterior. Inside it's clean and spacious, and obviously newly refurbished. I can only comment on the room that we had - a double on the first floor. It was large and freshly decorated. High ceilings, enormous new double bed with immaculate linen. Large refurbished en suite with efficient shower. Flat screen TV, great wi-fi reception, helpful service from the receptionists and a really good breakfast. We'd paid 90 euros in advance on a no-refunds basis and thought it great value for money.

“Not overly happy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Stayed at this hotel at the start of September. Nice hotel and convenient to train station. On checking out, we realised the amount of the room had been taken off our credit card, now we were told it wouldnt be but that was fine.......until we were also forced to pay in cash and told the amount taken off the card was just a block on the card and would be refunded in 2 to 3 days. 22 days later and after we contacted the credit card company we hot refunded the money. Hotel really should not state that they do not take amounts off the card when they do, I know technically they say they just block the amount and dont keep it but I was 22 days waiting to be refunded 99euro. Hotel itself fine, a couple of staff members left a lot to be desired. Id rate the rooms and location a 4, the issue with the credit card and lady that clearly didnt want us to use the toliets I would give a 1.
