Small rooms, average staff, broken fixtures. My room did not have a reading light. This is a two star hoteal eith 4 star rating and exirbitant price. Please, stay away

This was the worse room I have ever stayed in. My wife and I were given a "single" room with one towel and one small double bed. You had to turn sideways to get by. When one of our suitcases was delivered to the room next door, we found out that we had adjoining rooms. Then, to our surprise, the door was completely locked and would not open even with the key. Staff was also unfriendly.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel for a couple of nights. We hadn't booked anywhere to stay when we arrived in the resort but this one was in a very good location close to the sea. We were lucky to get a sea view room with a big balcony and the view was so beautiful you could sit there for hours. The roof top pool was small but it was a real sun trap with fantastic views again. The beach club was good too - not great for swimming but good for relaxing on a sun lounger.

Excellent hotel conveniently located just a short walk away from the central area of Santa Margherita. Friendly, professional English-speaking staff - if you stay for several days, staff at the reception, restaurant and beach become like family! Well managed and maintained premises. Clean rooms with beautiful views of the sea. All equipment, including AC and wireless internet, worked well. Good full breakfast (make sure to try the bacon - just superb). Well organized clean private beach with a direct access from the hotel and a nice restaurant (expect to pay extra for beach beds, but I guess, its like everywhere in Italy). Beach activities for kids.

Location of the hotel is perfect. Very close to more touristic areas of the town, but quieter for a better sleep.

Santa Margherita is a small beautiful clean town which was not too overcrowded in spite of the high season. Excellent food. If you want a good meal in a more elegant place try Restorante da Michele on Largo Amenndola. But if you are looking for a real treat go to Cinzia e Mario just a few steps away on Via Palestro. While it looks like a simple Pizzeria, food and service, led by lovely and hospitable Cinzia, are just great. Try grilled fish platter or fish soup. Very tasty! Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. But even a simple pizza matches the best New York standards.

If you are looking for more entertainment or shopping take a bus (to avoid parking problems) from Santa Margherita to Rapallo - just a few stops on a bus, runs regularly and takes not more than 10 minutes. We went there three evenings and at all times there was great outdoor entertainment organized on central squares. Portofino (also ten minutes by bus) can be a bit disappointing unless you like too seek for the "reach and famous". Nice little village, like many on the coast, but in my view overrated. Make a day trip to charming Cinque Terre - but try to select not the hottest day.
