“Decent hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed here three nights even though we had planned two, because it was okay, and not worth the effort of moving around. The service was good, they were very helpful when we asked to stay an extra night (they had to move some people around so we could keep the room we had). The lady who was there when we arrived tried to be helpful when we had questions about the area, but she didn't really speak English. The hotel has a few parking spaces (2 or 3) on the road outside the hotel which they charge 10 EUR for, and we were lucky and got one of them. There is also a big public parking lot right next to the hotel where you can park for the same price, but there is a marked there every Thursday, so between 6am and 3pm on Thursdays you have to find somewhere else to park.

The room is okay, although the bed was too hard, and it looks a bit old. The AC blew directly on the bed which was a bit annoying, but much better than not having AC. Most of the bathroom was fine, but the shower was not good - very strange angle and in a dirty bathtub, and mould on the window. Breakfast was fine. We got what we expected for a three star.

Rapallo itself is a good base for visits to other places, we had one day in Cinque Terre and one day in Genova. About 1 hour by train to both places, and trains go roughly once per hour.

“What a treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

My wife and I and our 17 month old son spent 4 nights with Claudio and his family here this past summer. While the hotel is great, it's the the staff that make this hotel a truly wonderful place to stay. We honestly thought felt as if we had been welcomed into their family when we were bidding our farewells. The restaurant staff work from the crack of dawn until the restaurant closes at night. We spoke with many other guests who raved about the hotels restaurant but our active 17 month old son did not fit in with the fine dining atmosphere so we decided on not disrupting other guests dining expereinces. Claudio set us up with a room on the first floor that had a huge fenced in patio (perfect for our son to play on) that also had a nice side view of the Sea. This hotel offers excellent value and the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the town of Rapallo. Rapallo itself offers very good shopping, quaint alleyway restaurants, cheap Nasto Azzurros and a wonderful seaside promenade. Many Italians from Milano mkae Rapallo their summer destination every year. The pay beach directly across from the hotel is a great place for kids as there are countless activities and toys for the kids to keep themselves entertained. Train and ferry connections from Rapallo are a breeze to explore the rest of the sights on this coastline. Once again, grazie mille Claudio and Lucca says ciao ciao.

“traditional family run Italian hotel with lovely warm welcome and great breakfast”

This is a family run hotel which offers guests a personal and warm welcome. There is truly service with a smile here and the owner Claudio and his wife Silvana will ensure you feel like a real person and not just a transient tourist. Other staff members I met were equally charming and friendly. The rooms are traditional Italian with aircon which worked very well and mine had a lovely sea view from its balcony (room 85). I would ask for the top floor as the view is pretty. The bathroom was clean and the water in the shower was hot and plentiful and reliable. Sheets and towels were cotton and good quality. The little TV had satellite so for non Italian speakers who wanted to watch TV, there is something. The breakfast in the morning is plentiful and good quality with muesli, cakes, croissants, ham, cheese, honey, jam, prunes, juices, and rice crackers. Cooked breakfast is extra. You can sit outside if you wish. The hotel sells tickets for the weekly 9 am ferry to the Cinque Terre (handy as you beat the queus at the harbour) and for Portofino. Location is excellent. It is situated at one end of Rapallo and just thirty seconds walk from the seaside promenade. The walk from the train station is 5 minutes. The restaurant serves excellent food, some of the best food I have had in Italy at a reasonable price. Locals came in on the evening I was there. The service was attentive and faultless.

“A gem on the Italian Riviera”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

My forty (40) year history with this hotel goes back three(3) generations. Just steps away from the main promenade (Lungomare) the location is perfect with great sea views. The gracious and accommodating hosts Claudio, his wife Silvanna and their son Lorenzo keep the hotel up to the highest standards. No wish is too small for these extremely professionals to fulfill. You don't have the feeling of a cold hotel, as they take pride in the way they treat their guests . The feeling is more like being in their home.
The friendly and accommodating staff has been well trained, efficient and always available to help The beds are wonderful and a good nights sleep is the rule. The restaurant is first class with the freshest of sea food, and delicacies that show off Ligure at its best. I've recommended this hotel to many friends and family, and no one was ever disappointed . The prices are in line with the majority of hotels along the Riviera.
