Four of us stayed at the Hotel Stella in Rapallo for a night on our drive from Milan to Florence. Finding the hotel was not a problem, but finding parking for registration was in issue. They had cones placed out front of the hotel blocking the street parking for guests, but no one there to move the cones as guests arrived. Once you check in, they lead you around a corner and down an alley to a gated parking area that my accomodate 6 to 8 cars at the most, so if you have a car, get there early or you may not have a place to park. The check in clerk, a nice grandmotherly woman, did not speak English, but we we managed to get our room keys. The two rooms were large by European standards with large private bath and a large closet/storage area along one wall. The windows opened to help cool the room at night, but the noise from the street is quite loud. The bed was only so-so. The rooftop deck was a wonderful place to spend the evening after dinner. It was quiet and you could see the lights of the city and of all the homes in the surrounding hills. Rapallo was a wonderful little seaside town that is not of the tourist map, so it is more real Italy than some of the tourist spots along the coast.
