If you must stay in Portofino as opposed to perhaps nearby Santa Margherita and can't afford the Hotel Spendido (like most of us mortals) this is your hotel. Ask for a room with a balcony and view. For 300 Euros in this location the value is unbeatable. Don't expect the Ritz. The room we had (room 15) was huge with two windows almost floor to ceiling looking right out at the Harbor. The room was no frills but the bathroom was modern. The only negative was the management smoked in the lobby but it seemed like everyone in Portofino smokes especially at the outdoor restaurants. If you can, stay at the Hotel Spendido or Hotel Spendido Mare. If 300 euros is above budget, stay in Santa Margherita and do a day visit by boat to Portofino.

Although I think next time I come to the Portofino Area I would stay in Santa Margherita (is livier than Portofino) we had a good experience in hotel Nazionale. It has a super location, neat rooms and fine breakfast.

Fantasic Views from the Seaside rooms and could not be a better location. A secret I think, don't tell to many people ;)

I have been 4 night in Hotel Nazionale and I have to say that it is a perfect deal.
The hotel is quite small and it makes you feel comfortable; the personnel is absolutely friendly and the owner Nicola is a delicious man. The Pizzeria attached to the hotel offers great meals for a very good price. The rooms are very spacious and absolutely well mantained.
I suggest everybody who is planning to go to Portofino to stay at Nazionale: and enjoy this beautiful experience!
