The hotel is simple but I had a good single room with shower/toilet and air condition. Paid 190 Euro for 4 days. The location is ok, but not very nice ca 500m west of Genova Principe train station, a short walk from the international harbour. There is a friendly cafe/bar 50 meter from the hotel that also serves meals. In front of the hotel there is a road with some traffic, the main road with heavy in front of the harbour is also only a few meters away. My room was facing the backyard and was not noisy, the window also seemed to take away a lot of noise. The aircondition worked fine so I could have the window closed if I wanted. Breakfast was not optimal for a Norwegian used to 'real' breakfast, but had different yoghurts and cereals beside some normal fatty things that you get in southern Europe. Suprise: they had something we call 'Knekkebrod' that comes from Sweden originally I think, thick crispy wholemeat bread.
To the perhaps most interesting sites in Genova you can use subway or bus only a few meters away, I walked the distance (1-2km) Tip: good shoes, the landscape is by no means flat and lots of stones, not only asphalt. Another problem: there are almost as many dogs as people in the town and I miraculously managed to pass all their little/big surprises all over town. In Paris once on Pont neuf I was not so lucky and got brown shoes AND stockings, perhaps I have learned from that experience :)
