We stayed at the hotel in October 2006 and will never go back again. When we arrived, the taxi driver shook his head and asked if we were really going to stay there because he wouldn't.
The staff did not speak English well or they spoke only Italian. The communication between the hotel and a fellow traveler had failed and her reservation never came through, somehow they had failed to tell that her credit card was not accepted and the reservation could not be confirmed. Too bad, the city was full due to conferences and there was no room in other hotels either. They did arrange a room with no breakfast on the other end of Genoa, though. That was nice.
The room was not nice. We had to screw in the light bulb in the bathroom. There was a bottle of washing solution left on the sink. The shampoo looked like it was a free sample from someplace - there were two samples, one full and one empty one. There was only one towel for two people. The water from the shower ran to the bathroom floor and stayed there. The room was noisy due to the main road being close and the air conditioning or whatever also made noise. The bed was hard and the bed cover had burn holes from cigarrettes.
The breakfast - well, it was some sweet pastries, coffee and juice. I did not expect much and that was what we also got.
We checked out the next day though we were supposed to stay longer and booked a room in the closest available hotel 40 km away - and did not regret a minute though we had to travel to Genoa by train every morning.
