Beautiful building with great period 'cage' lift. The location was ok - near a large station (Brignole) with many bus stops outside. Not the easiest walk to the central area, but ok. Lots of great shops, bars and restaurants nearby.

Bedroom quite bare, but comfortable enough. The hotel was being fitted out with flat screen tvs during my stay. Lots of channels, but only one English-speaking (CNN).

Breakfast was fantastic - a buffet with many choices such as cakes, pastries, cereal, cold meats, yogurts and cheese. The staff were very helpful indeed. Nothing was too much trouble.

The building was built in 1860. It must have been a Grand Dame for her day. Beautiful fittings and the cutest elevator. Typical Italian, just the bare essentials. It is an old hotel and is kept in period so don't expect to many luxuries. The staff is very helpful. The hotel is located close a smaller railway station, but not close to the city centre. Many busses available. It is worthy of it 3 star rating.

5 minutes walk from train (Stazione Brignole). Nice older building. Nice clean rooms. Breakfast buffet with relatively many choices. Very helpful and friendly staff (especially Cinzia who answered my never-ending questions, and Christian who helped me book my next hotel). My only gripe: They kept the a/c running for limited hours. Other hours, it was working as a fan-only. Should not be a problem for most people, but I like it cold. Because I had to keep the window open, the street noise bother me a little bit during my second stay.

Very old hotel. Temperature outside was chilling (-3 celsius). Inside the hotel was not warmer than the exterior temperature. My room had two AC units. The first night I has only one unit set up to max heat, and I could not sleep at all due to the cold. Second night I had both units set up to max heat, and I could not sleep either due to the noise of the fan of the second unit.
Shower pressure was a disaster as well. No pressure at all (although the temperature of the water was appropriate)
Carpet and trimming very old, and the elevator (museum piece) did not work twice because the manual doors had to be closed by the user.
In general, I would not recommend
