“old in many ways”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2006

The sorroundings are really nice and its only a short walk away from the sea, wich is really nice but the room we had (27 - A) on the ground floor was big and old. The wooden furniture was very old. And the bathroom looked like it needed an update. The included breakfast was ok (cold thought). You could choose between indoor or outdoor wich was nice. The other thing was that it was full of elderly people, not a problem itself, but in the end it seemed we had stayed at a home for the elderly...The staff were helpfull whenever we asked for indications arround.

“A bit frayed around the edges”

This property has two things to say for it free parking and low price. But we found the place a bit frayed around the edges. Common areas were storage spots for broken pianos and cribs. The elevator broke down while we were using it.The room was indeed spacious, in fact, it was so spacious that a tiny, cramped bathroom had been added as an afterthought. There was mildew in the shower. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were hard and flat. Breakfast was served too late - 8am - for us to take advantage of it and still attend our conference. The property is a couple of blocks from a promenade along the sea, a nice public garden, and from the train station. It is on two very convenient bus lines, so we left our car at the hotel each day and took the bus or train.

“We liked it.”

We paid 70 euros per night for a twin room with breakfast in July and were not expecting too much but we were pleasantly surprised, it had a quaint old-Italy feel. Its a 400 year old aristocratic villa, and the location is stunning. The only drawback was the lack of air-conditioning but we plan to go back later in the year when it's not too hot.

Genoa Nervi is a great town, and their our wonderful accomadations all over the town. Hotel Bonera is not one of those wonderful accomadations. The hotel looks nothing like the photos posted online.
