My wife and I stayed at the Continental Hotel in Genoa for 1 night as part of an 8 week holiday through Europe, UK and Ireland. We chose the Continental based on price, location and also reviews from Trip Advisor. Our stay in Genoa was really a one night stop over as we travelled by train from Cinque Terre to Nice with the idea being that we could spend a bit of time exploring Genoa by foot.
As we were arriving at and departing from Genoa via train we were keen to find somewhere in very close walking distance from the train station, and the Continental hotel is certainly that – with about a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel to the train station. The hotel for some reason that is not very clear to me has an old rustic charm to it (this is meant in a nice way !!), from the old style elevator, to the style of the rooms, to the breakfast room, … - it was all very pleasant. We received a complimentary upgrade to our room on arrival, and so got a very large and spacious room with lovely décor, furniture, fittings etc – and we loved every aspect of the room. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Whilst the hotel is well located to the train station, the walk into the central area was a little longer, however with advice from the staff we were able to navigate the walk easily.
Breakfast was included and it was hosted in their lovely dining room, and was most enjoyable.
In summary I would certainly consider staying there again, standard of accommodation was excellent and location in relation to the train station perfect.
