We stayed in this hotel for 1 night at the beginning of July 2011 on our brief trip to Genova. Hotel is nice and has an old charm to it, but it is definitely not 4 star by any means. It is more like 3 star with added minibar. The rooms are small, the bathroom is cramped and the breakfast is quite average. And they also charge hefty extra for parking.

On the other hand, the location is superb and staff was nice to us.

Overall impresssion: Standard deal. Would stay there again if the price is right.

We arrived at the centrally located hotel by car and were greeted by the miserable receptionist, who 'processed us'. Despite the size of this 6 storey hotel, the central areas such as bar and general seating area were very basic, with the reception being something more at home in a small bed and breakfast. Parking was available at €26 per day. 

We went to the room via the traditional character lift and narrow corridors. The compact room was rather basic, two beds, two bedside lights and a TV; wardrobe space was limited, restricted further as it contained the extra pillows and blankets. No safe but a mini bar and noisy a/c. 

Bathroom was again basic, as were the toiletries and minimal towels. It was however clean and in reasonable condition. 

Breakfast was good, served in a small first floor location and comprised a reasonable selection of both hot and cold food, cereals, juices and cooked meats / cheese.

In summary, very basic for the price paid, but an excellent location in the centre of town, adjacent to the main shopping streets.

Don't miss the great local food on offer in the small eateries situated in the narrow streets of the old town. The modern pedestrianised port area with its bars, restaurants and aquarium is also worth a visit. 

we went there because it cost not that much, and we stayed there only one night (fortunately). When I was booking i called them asking if there was a possibility to use their garage for a half day more after our check out (of course I'd pay), well they told me that it wasn't usual but they could see if there was space the very day of our checking out. Well that day on my check out i asked the guy I talked to on the phone before if they had space for our car, d'you know what I heard?something like, it' a very strange request, they never did that before, so they cant help us and of course he didn't check the availability. I was treated like I was telling something really stupid! I couldn't believe that!
the point is, it's ok for me if they don't have a possibility, i can accept that but not their lies and such an impoliteness!!!
the breakfast is not a 4star, 2 max, and the're to few tables
the room is small (a double bed is 140 cm large) but clean, the view is horrible
the shower had jets that didn't work
the position is acceptable but not central
the garage staff and maids were nice and professional

Two chaperone couples and 14 high school girls had a wonderful stay at the Moderno Verdi. We booked two doubles (one with a small anteroom) and two quads and two triples. All the rooms were close together which is important for a high scholl group, Yes, they kept our passports as all the hotels in Italy had done where we stayed so they could register us all to the rooms and then returned them to us all groped by room which made it easy to distribute back to everyone. There were a number of high scholl groups at the hotel for the conference from the US, England, Costa Rica and the staff offered great service and patience with everyone. The rooms were spacious and with all the walking we were doing for the week in Italy, the multiple shower head shower was wonderful relief at the end of the day. Two elevators were helpful but the steps were easy as well. It's right next to the train station and is on San Vincenzo a main walkway for train travelers to downtown that had a wonderful selection of quick Genovese food perfect for the high school girls every night (and a great little gelato place as the last stop every day!). So four days for 18 people and not a complaint from anyone and lots of praise from everyone, If we have the chance, we'll take our next group there.
