“Central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Stayed here for 4 nights in early December 2011. As this was our honeymoon, we were given an extremely large room on the top floor. King bed with a small fridge and plenty of room to spread out.
Breakfast was part of our package and was a very good selection each morning with plenty of tables to sit at. Cereals, breads, cheese, meat, scrambled or boiled eggs. You could also order coffee as part of the deal separate to what was available at the table.
Hotel is very central and Genoa is very easy to get around. We took the local tour bus on day.
Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful when wanting to know about things to see and do in Genoa.
There is a supermarket vey near by which the hotel staff can tell you about.
There is also a small launderette hidden away in the back alleys near the hotel. Near the cathedral - one street away from the cathedral if walking from the hotel and then head down towards the water. Beside a small fruit and veg shop. Not many machines and quite busy.
Hotel is only a short taxi ride from the main train station.

It is nice that you think about the hotel Metropoli as part of your honeymoon album! Breakfast is our pride and it seems you really enjoyed it. Hope you liked the Genoese freshly baked Focaccia and our world famous Italian expresso. Your tips about Genoa will be surely useful as our suggestions probably helped you to discover our lovely city.
Come back soon...

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and appreciacion. We do have different sizes of rooms depending on how many people stay and the type of reservation, but we always have the tendency to upgrade to a bigger room, no matter what..if available of course ;-) Wi-fi is a plus as we like to offer all over the property and in the rooms connection to home.
Come back another time!

“Nice hotel poor sound proofing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed in this hotel for two nights before and after my cruise with MSC and whilst the hotel is in a good location to explore Genoa it is also located in what I can only call an 'amphitheatre of sound' which if it happens to be a busy weekend night can resound into your bedroom even with the double glazing that is fitted.

If, like me, you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you as the sound proofing and light exclusion within the rooms is poor to say the least and so you hear everything that is going on outside in the square and have a constant orange glow within the room at night. The second night I got some sleep (because it was a working day) but the first night I got none.

Beware anyone with heavy suitcases as there are several steps up to to the hotel once inside which I just about managed but some people might have difficulties with this.

It is a real shame as the staff are excellent being courteous and considerate and the breakfast is tremendous. I hope Best Western read this review and seek to improve things at this hotel as the people there deserve it.

Room Tip: Get a room at the BACK not side or front if you want to stand any chance of a good nights sleep

Dear Trevor,

as we always say, one of our best features is to be in the very heart of the city, facing one of the most romantic squares in town and sometimes it takes time to get adjusted to the noise of the citylife.
We are happy and proud you liked our breakfast and thank you for the compliments you paied to the staff. We work with passion and we are dedicated to our guests' wellness even though they only stay for a couple of nights!

Thank you for your time and come back to see us soon.

“A Pleasant Surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We began our vacation in Genova - unknown to us, during "Boat Week". We found our hotel to be very close to all the action, extremely clean and comfortable. The most important part of our stay here was the cheerful and pleasant attitudes of the employees. Breakfast was remarkable varied - all delicious! It is a great place to stay whether on business or vacation. I appreciated access to the free internet to keep in touch with my family as well.
This was a "jumping off" point for us - we joined a cruise from the port of Genova and upon our return we stayed again at the hotel. It was a better stay the second time - not quite so noisy as it was during the boat show. We highly recommend the Best Western Metropoli.

It has been a real pleasure having you over and getting to know you. I understand when you talk about the confusion during the boat show week; it is the busiest week of the year to us! Glad you enjoyed our breakfast and our local products that we like to offer to celebrate our region! And of course the wi-fi Internet connection, always helpful and appreciated. Thank you so much for the compliments paid to the staff and come back to see us soon!

A charming hotel in the old town of Genoa, the Hotel Metropoli offers great value for your buck. The rooms are small but very stylish - I loved the mix of modern and old design. Great breakfast, very friendly staff and free Wi-Fi. Definitely a thumbs up!

Our conception of hospitality is also to mix the modern with the old style of the ancient building in the heart of the historic center where we are. But it is also to make our guest feel comfortable and pampered! Thank you for your kind comments and come back again!
