We stayed here for a night on our way to the Cinque Terre. It is a pretty basic hotel, and we ended up in a room with a shared bathroom. It did have a minifridge though, but no AC. It was a bit noise, even though our room did not directly face the street (there is an alley/parking area on the side, where sound carries). Had no problem getting in. There are not many restaurants for dinner around the hotel though, so keep that in mind. We had trouble finding a place, even though there are two pastry shops almost underneath the hotel.
Hotel is a short (10 min.) walk from the train station, but is a little further from other area attractions in the main part of the city. We didn't mind as we're cool with walking places. Genova is actually a really nice city and we wished we had more than one day there. There are very few tourists, but actually a lot to see.
All in all the hotel was safe and clean, and was a good, inexpensive place to stay for a a night.
