“Amazing views make up for room and steps!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

The views from our roof top balcony were the best! 360 degree view of the sea, coastline , and Vernazza is one of the best memories we will have of our trip to Italy! If you have trouble walking up steep stairs then you should not book this place because there are 111 steps to get to your room! Yes,one hundred and eleven steps!
Elisabetta met us in town and had our bags carried up to our room which is one of the highest points in Vernazza offering overnite stays. The room is tiny but clean. We watched the sunset sipping wine from our rooftop terrace....
Elisabetta is one of our absoulute favorite travel memories now.

Note: There are no cars in the town so you have to park and walk into the town center to meet Elisabetta. Parking is 12 euros for everyone staying overnight in the town.

Room Tip: There are two rooms that can access rooftop terrace so be sure to ask for one. There are several plac...

“Gorgeous views, loved Cinque Terre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We got a little lost on the way to the hotel but managed to find it and hiked up all the stairs. They were a little scary with our backpacks, but we didn't fall all 3 days we were there, so no problems to report! The view was incredible from our balcony and from the bedroom window. There was also room on an extra rooftop terrace but we never used it because we liked the privacy of our own little balcony best of all. It was fanastic, we enjoyed hiking and relaxing, watching the sunset and drinking wine. It was a great stop on our honeymoon.

I have only one small complaint, and that was with the cleanliness of the place. It was relatively clean, but not exceptionally clean. The fridge had hair and dirt in it and I spent the first few hours cleaning and double checking that things were okay. The towels and sheets seemed fine, but they were not the bright white of most hotels, instead they were coloured - which in some ways seemed cozy and cute, and in other ways I wanted to be assured that any leftover germs and hairs from the last guests had been bleached and washed away.

Overall Cinque Terre was incredibly beautiful and we loved the area. Make sure you try minestrone soup, made with lots of pesto, and ravioli with walnut cream sause at Sandra's.

“Gorgeous views, large family apartment!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

We stayed at the Elisabetta at the beginning of July with our 2 sons for 4 nights. We absolutely loved this place!! As many reviewers have stated, the views are amazing! Personally, when I book a hotel, it is all about the views for me and not so much about the inside of the room as we are rarely inside!

We arrived to find a large, spacious apartment with a pull-out bed downstairs for the kids and a double bed upstairs. We also had a kitchenette that had a fridge for drinks, a kettle and a few plates...not enough to cook a full meal there if that is what you wanted to do but we found amazing restaurants (La Pirate at the entrance to the town from the car parking lot...can't say enough great things about this restaurant...amazing pastries for breakfast, incredible food for lunch and dinner, as well as Il Torre which is on the path to the Cornigula just a bit higher than the hotel...great food and views!).

The bathroom was on the smaller side and every time someone had a shower, everything got all wet as the curtain was quite small but we have found that to be the norm in most places in Italy and in Europe in general. The bed was on the hard side, but again, that seems to be the norm in Italy!

There are quite a few stairs to climb but they were very manageable and not a big deal if you know in advance that you will need to climb stairs. We loved Vernazza and were glad we had picked this town to stay in. Our boys loved taking the boat from town to town although we did hike between Vernazza and Monterosso...brutal hike but what a great sense of accomplishment when we were done! There is not Wi-Fi in the hotel but our boys found that by sitting on the steps outside of the hotel, they were able to find Wi-Fi out there.

They were just finishing the renovations outside of the hotel and the first morning we arrived, the men arrived to take town the scaffolding at 8:00am...not the best wakeup call but this is a real town where real people live so you have to expect that is will not be a silent place to stay.

The roof top terrace was the highlight for us and we spent all of our time that we were at the hotel up there. We found the owners to be very helpful and friendly and whenever we saw them in town, they would greet us and ask how things were going.

This hotel was great value and well worth it! I would go back there again and again!

“Beware! Much better accommodation available elsewhere.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

I was led up to my room just after 'check in' time and it had not even been cleaned. The bed was almost on the floor and all crumpled with dirty sheets and the bathroom was dirty with wet towels still on the floor.
Unfortunately the outside was being renovated and the room was full of dust. The owner just said "keep the window shut".
I quickly left and found much larger (also had a loungeroom with a fridge), cleaner and quiet accommodation from a shop in the main street for $15 euros less a night. Ok, it didn't have a view, but then there wasn't a view from the other room, except for the scaffolding.
Friends I know stayed and said the owner barged into the room in the morning while she was still in bed and demanded passports and full payment.

Room Tip: Get there early and ask at the shops in the street with 'room vacant' signs.
