A modest walk to everywhere, five minutes to Piazza Unita. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms adequate and clean. Mine, however, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Que peccato!
I'd go back,(different room, though).

We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast consisted of brioche, eggs, cheese and yoghurt, with plenty of coffee and juice. Our room was quiet, overlooking Via degli Artisti, and only a 15 minute walk (a steep one) up to the castle. The hotel is centrally located and very comfortable. Plenty of umbrellas to cater for the heavy rain we experienced!
The hotel is found in a good location - a walking distance from all the interesting places of Trieste. You can even climb up from there to the castle within about 20 minutes (steep stairs, don't reccommend it to older people). It is not facing a busy street.
The room was very clean, although probably not renewed for a while.
The service was great - all the receptionists knew perfect english and were very very nice and helpful.
There was no WIFI. A public internet point is found at the lobi.
The breakfast was a disspointment - croissons, bread, cheese and ham. No extras. The good thing was that there is a coffee machine in the breakfast room and it is fun making coffee there.
The hotel does not have it's own parking. You need to pay extra and someone comes to pick up your car. Not so comfortable if you forget something inside the car (s.a. sunglasses in my case). When the car was returned from the parking, it was very dirty from outside.
I can reccommend the hotel but not the parking service.
we stayed one night at Hotel Citta di Parenzo on the way to Slovenia. Hotel is right in the city center, perfectly located if you want to visit Trieste ( just a short walk from the Castel and the marina ).
Rooms are a little bit outdated but perfectly clean and comfortable, standard buffet breakfast.
Free wifi ( in the lobby there is a free pc ), although we weren't able to connect IPhone .
Friendly staff: since we arrive late evening they gave us some discount on the double room ( from 90euros to 67euros)
no free parking, you can park your car in a discounted parking nearby ( 16 euros per day )
We stayed in Trieste before moving on to Venice. Unfortunately the weather was terrible (end of October), wet and very windy. And as many of the resturants and bars only had seating outside, there wasn't much to do. So we were grateful that our hotel had a super market close by, was very central and was comfy enough to lounge about in, eating snacks in the room.
We found a lovely little Pizza place which was very reasonably priced, and most of the cafes do the best hot chocolates. I would say if you are planning on staying in Trieste then the hotel is worth a stay for its location, the breakfast isn't massive, but it is fresh and tasty.
I wouldn't make it a long stay over in Trieste as some of the resturants and bars are not very welcoming, the big one one opposite Harrys in the main square just ignored my wife and I, sorry I can't remember its name. However this was a good thing in the end we took a side street and found a proper taste of Italy
We may have just missed it all but Trieste didn't have much to offer, but like I said this could have been due to weather!
