“GOOD LOCATION CLEAN HOTEL REASONABLE PRICED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

Very convenient to the bus or train station and the city centre, delighted with the room, spacious with the wood panel decor and tiled floor a fresh and clean feel. The breakfast room is small but did not offer a problem and the buffet adequate. The staff where friendly and with the owner on site a delightful stay. I would return and recommend

“Overpriced and unfriendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2007

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a long weekend in May, and we did not think that our stay at the hotel was a nice experience. The staff were not friendly and the initial room we were given was a big disappointment. It was on the first floor right next to the breakfast area - to be precise, 2 meters from our room door was the first table of the breakfast area. Right after we saw the location of the room we went back to the reception to ask if there was a possibility of getting another room - but a rude reply refused our request while telling us that we would not have any noise-related problems. However, the next morning we were awaken at 06:30 when the staff started setting the area (imagine setting all the cutlery and plates and such - it is never noiseless) and then even more so from 07:00 when people started coming to eat their breakfast (which by the way, is nothing special to write home about). For the second day we were moved to another room - this time with 'internal' view of the building 5 meters away in a complete ruin. All this for a price of €130 per night - the worst hotel experience we have ever had for this price.
If there was one good thing about this hotel it is its location right downtown.

“"Twas a dark and stormy night"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2006

'Twas a dark and stormy night when we arrived in Trieste, having flown from Sydney to Rome and then taken the train on to Trieste. On arrival in Trieste in a snowstorm we spent fully five minutes in the Nuovo Albergo Centro, at which we had made a reservation on the strength of some of your user reviews, but (for reasons on which I will not dwell) we decided it was not for us. The receptionist there graciously (considering our jet-laggedness and obvious disappointment at what her hotel had to offer) phoned for a taxi and a booking at the 3-star Hotel Italia. The Italia was bright, clean, welcoming, helpful, comfortable and well-situated. We had two most interesting days (three nights) in Trieste and would warmly recommend the city and the hotel Italia as a base from which to explore it.
