Myself and my partner would thoroughly recommend Rimini and Hotel Savina as a cheap beach holiday.
The rooms were clean and basic and equipped with a tv and safe free of charge. My only criticism would be the miniscule wetroom where the shower is positioned above the toilet and you need to be very careful not to flood your whole room… although the rooms are cleaned and towels changed daily (just incase you have used them all mopping up the floor!).
The best thing about Hotel Savina is the staff, it is a small family run hotel and you really get a feel of this. The staff speak very little English and we spoke even less Italian but this did not prevent them from helping us with weather reports, train times, taxi bookings etc.
The breakfast was the typical continental style breakfast but well stocked and plentiful.
As for the resort itself we were very wary when we read reports, particularly ones describing Rimini as the “Blackpool of Italy” however we were pleasantly surprised. The beach is beautiful, providing entertainment for people of all ages… the “beachware sellers” can be annoying though. There is the typical road of tourist shops, restaurants and even a couple of amusement arcades but the fab restaurants (try Joe’s for great food and service!) and Geletarias dotted in amongst them more than make up for this... all in all well worth a trip!
