“Friendly Hotel Apis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2008

My 9 year old daughter and I have just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Apis, Rimini. Overall we found the hotel very good although it did not match the expectations we had after reading up online.

All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, day and night and really made us feel welcome, speaking several languages. Our twin room was fairly basic but comfortable with working air conditioning, shower, t.v. (Italian channels only) and cleaned (very well) daily.

Buffet breakfast was plentiful, available for 3 hours and fantastic. Cakes, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, meat, cheese, fruit juice ..... Wonderful cappuccino, espresso, etc., tea or chocolate self service. Made it easy to get up early in the morning!

The swimming pool at the front of the hotel was a lovely depth - about 4-5ft, clean, lots of sunbeds, very relaxed atmosphere. Fairly busy most of the time but plenty of room. Ping pong table (buy a ball for 1 euro and keep it, free bats from reception) and billiards table (2 euro coin) were well used by us and others and helped create a jolly atmosphere.

I was a little disappointed that there was no sauna or gym at the hotel after reading about it on several websites and choosing this hotel partly because of those facilities. The Hotel Apis has an agreement with a gym on a separate site (about 10 minutes away) which you have to book in advance, hence we never made it there whereas had it been in the hotel as expected we would have used it in the evenings. We also found out on the last day that there is an agreement with beach No. 5 for guests to use although it was not clear whether there is a charge for the umbrellas/sunbeds which cover all of the beaches. We hired 2 beds and an umbrella one afternoon on beach No.6 which cost 10 euros but which we only used for 2 hours. This could increase costs of a holiday quite significantly if you plan to spend a lot of time on the beach (and that is what Rimini is all about!)

Overall we had a great stay here and I'm glad we booked Hotel Apis.

“The Apis is in a quiete area. Sweet little hotel”

The Apis is in a quiete area, it has apool which is great when coming off the beach. The pool is never busy the italians love the beach. The rooms are small but clean and enough for your needs. The breakfast was awful, we ate out 4 euros coffee and cake. Overall the hotel was great, very reasonable. The smal bar is handy it opnes all night. Great restaurants nearby, a short bus ride to Rimini is a must. We had a lovely time

“A peaceful and relaxing location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2006

Hotel Apis was located in the smaller resort of Rivabella adjacent to Rimini which is easily accessible by bus or taxi.
This peaceful resort is very suitable for families with young children. The large beach running the length of the resort has waterslides, swings, volleyball and many other activities and is a short walk from the hotel.

The hotel provided a good base for exploring, rooms were clean and staff friendly. Air conditioning units worked well and quietly and there was always plenty of hot water for showers. As the beach was so close the pool and sunbeds were usually free when you wanted a dip.

Standard Italian breakfast with lots of cakes and sweet things which were continually refreshed.

  • Liked — size and location
  • Disliked — bar staff couldn't take money for drinks etc. it was added to room bill
  • Tips/Secrets — using banks in Italy is a long process, take cash or use cash machines!

“No A/C, but plenty of fleas!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2006

We were looking for a reasonably priced place near the beach in Rimini, but I never did find the beach from here. The hotel reminded me of Atlantic City in the 1950's--aging and decrepit.

The A/C in our first room didn't work, so they gave us another room, also with non-functioning A/C. There was very little ventilation, and the tiny box of a room was sweltering. I was tossing and turning, trying to get to sleep, when my stomach became very itchy. I looked closely and realized that I was being bitten by fleas!

We were supposed to stay for two nights, but naturally, we told the clerk that we were leaving after the first night. He started to argue with us, and he refused to issue a refund for the second night.

'm sure there are great places to stay in Rimini, but this isn't it.
