“Extremely Disappointing”

This hotel might have been great 40 years ago, but its heyday is a distant memory. This hotel was one of eighteen that my family stayed at in on our three country 2 1/2 month trip. The price was ridiculous for what was offered. Our travel agency booked for a sea view room with a king bed. When we got there, we had a queen with a garden view. They told me that those criteria are just recommendations and not guaranteed by the hotel. The worst part is that the air conditioning did not work. The room was like being inside a boiler. After multiple requests and attempts to fix it, it still never worked. The beach price is absolutely crazy. They wanted 150 euros a day for a front row umbrella. There cheapest is 90 euros for day. The next beach over was 16 euros. The one nice thing they had was the kids camp, which our son enjoyed. They also charged me 150 euros for breakfast for a three year old. I indicated that in the reservations that the agent had booked for three three (in our other seventeen stops we had no problems). They charged me, and I had a very ugly confrontation with the morning manager. Mind you, I speak fluent Italian and was dismissed extremely rudely. The saving grace for this area was a restaurant that was excellent in which we ate lunch and dinner. Lo Squero
I can not give lower than 1 star unfortunately.

this hotel was so nice with great service, food, and setting. The pool was nice and the beach was great. The food and service was wonderful even though the food was a little pricey it was worth it. The whole experience was great and I would definitely go back if I had the chance.

“Beautiful classic hotel”

Stayed at this hotel one night in September, the hotel is beautiful as is the garden, but check-in was quite slow. My room was in the annex, which was also a beautiful building, just around the corner from the Grand hotel. Very efficient ac, beautiful bathroom with excellent shower. TV with only Italian channels. Excellent breakfast. The pool area was quite small and for most of the day in the shadow. Beach was beautiful, but as many others have pointed out you had to pay approx EUR 50:-- for a chair at the third row. If you walk a bit further along the beach you will find places where they rent out chairs for EUR 4:--/day, a bit mor reasonable!

“Nothing Changes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Started going here nearly 40 years ago and really so little changes over the years.
A number of the Rooms have been updates with new flooring and bathrooms but still the same old traditional wardrobes with small drawers.
The food if on half board is still great and if we did not like what was on the menu they would make something else.
The Buffet rarely changed in the evening and occasionally they ran out of things with just a shrug of the shoulder.
The beach is the best ever with the softest sand and warm seas. The beach vendors have thankfully been driven away and you can now relax without being bombarded with rubbish items.
Lunch at the beach is expensive at 30 Euros pp but they do have a cheaper choice as well. We ate at a little bar on the way to the beach each day.
The Dinners on the Terrace are great and were offered 3 times a week with a live Band each time. Very well organised and a huge selection.
The staff were generally very helpful and we will return.

“A very special place The GRAND Rimini”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We have been guests at the Grand Hotel Riminni over the last 12 years. We last visited in June 2011 and have been there on at least 10 occassions and have always found the accomodation, the food, beach and the ambiance to be superb. We generally always stay in the annexe accross the road as you still get the full use of all the main hotel facilities.

They have a private beach which is just accross the road and the spacing between sunbeds is far better than all the other hotels where they are very crowded.
The beach is kept very clean and there is a beach restaurant/cafe at your disposal.

During the main season they have outside buffets/barbeques with entertainment 2-3 times a week. These are quite spetacular and always have a vast selection of food for everyones tastes.

We always book half board. The evening meals in the main restaurant always have a starter buffet including a variety of sea foods, cold meats and lots of different salads followed by 3 further courses including a huge selection of deserts and fruit. If there is nothing on the menu that you fancy, the head waiter can arrange for something to be made of your choice.

The town of Rimini is very close to the hotel and the quaint old town of Rimini is a short bus ride away on the number 11 bus with lovely cobbled streets lots of cafes and shops set back into the old buildings. There is also a fantastic market in the old town twice a week Saturaday and Wednesday mornings.

In the opposite direction on the number 11 bus will take you to the resort of Ricionne.
which is also worh a visit but beware of pick pockets on the bus.

Not far away up in the hills you have San Marino which is tax free shopping, you need to go to the top level which is level 6 and walk down. This makes a great day out if you are bored with sun bathing.

Another area about 45 minutes drive towards Venice is another nice resort of Milano Maritima. The medievil town of Ravena is also not to far from that resort.
