We've spent a week at this hotel from the end of July till the first days of August. I've booked a double room for two people for about 900 euros.
When we got there we've been told that there're no double rooms available so we'll get two single rooms. Since we were there with a friend, we didn't mind, but if I was with my partner I would have been quite a bit pissed I guess. Their promise was that we'll get a double room in a few days, as soon as one becomes available. It just didn't happen during our stay.
The hotel is in a pretty nice location, about 2 mins walk from the coast - however it doesn't have its own beach unlike many hotels, so you'll ned to find the one that you like and pay for the beds/umbrellas (4/7 euros/day).
The single rooms are very small, it's just a queen-size bed, a small minibar (which hardly can keep the drinks chilled), a cupboard, a small table and the bathroom. Alltogether not more than 10 sq. m, and if your suitcase is a bit bigger than the average you'll have a serious problem getting around in the room.
The room itself was clean, with an LCD tv and with the standard Mercure channels. A/C was equipped in the room and it functioned perfectly - only that the cleaning lady used to turn it off so when we got back from the beach it used to be quite warm in the room.
The bathroom was also small, but clean. The fan was quite noisy though.
There is no safe in the room, so you need to ask the staff at the reception to keep your valuables there if you wanna leave them - I'd advise you to do so, since on the beach it's not safe to have valuables with you.
There is Wifi connection in the room, but I'd say it's rather expensive with Swisscom. 10 euros for a 60 mins, 17 euros for a 24 hours ticket, which starts in the moment of your first login.
I'd expect a four star hotel to have gratis internet at least in the main lobby. Besides it was quite slow (512 kb).
Since we went for half pension, we've had the chance to eat in the restaurant of the hotel. I can honestly say, don't go for it if you have a choice.
I've been to quite a few Italian places before and this place sucks. You better just head out to the street and find loads of places to have a nice meal in, but the meal in the restaurant of the hotel is not nice at all. It is eatable, but it's definitely not that nice. The portions are small and not that tasty, I've had a feeling that the minced meat used for the bolognese sauce was not really fresh.
The parking of the hotel as such is just a few parking places painted on the street at the backside of the hotel. There're about 6-8 places tops, if you really squeeze the cars. If you have a long car you'll have trouble with its back being too much on the street (as I've had with my BMW E60), since at most of the places you can't move close to the wall since there're some lampposts for the flood lights of the sidewalls of the hotel.
The staff was always nice and helpful.
So to summarize all - I'd give a good 3 star rating to this hotel, but not better.
