“terrible disappointment”

The hotel sounded nice, next to the beach, 4 star, ice fotos and not too bad reviews here in Tripadvisor...
It turned out differently.
The room consists of the main room, which is rather small. When i openeed the curtain to the balcony i found a second room, about the same size if the main one, but 'outside', no lights, no painted walls etc, it was obviously under construction (and i was never told so). In front of that room there was the 'real' balcony. I guess it might be better when these remodelations are through, but for the price i payed i found this to be unacceptable.
The Swimming Pool was closed. When i complained i was told i could always use the panorama pool on the top floor - which was indeed nice, but only about 1.5m deep (max) and very small. So we decided to go to the beach - which apparently costs another 14€ per 2 persons, even with the hotel voucher. The breakfast was ok, but the room looked like it was last cleaned/refurbished in the 70s, very shabby...
So to sum up: Room in construction, no Swimming Pool, no Free Beach, shabby breakfast, 115€ per night = very bad.

“Shabby Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

Ok, where do I start. Stayed for 5 nights and was a bit shocked by the service as the other places that we had stayed at previously had 5 star service, but the service here was not so good. We were travelling with a baby and our room had been made up with a bed and we were told as house keeping were gone, that we would have to wait as there was no one to make up the cot. I told them that my child could not sleep on the bed as he would roll off and he said there was nothing to be done, I then had to make the ultimatum to bring the cot up and I would make it or we would find somewhere else to stay. Then a dingy and very unsafe portacot was brought in, some thing you would find at an op-shop and the sheets were left on our bed, I have no problem making up the cot but the fuss was not necessary – this took about 40mins to sort out.

We asked if we could go to the top level to see the view from the roof and pool but as it was off season, we were not allowed, it seemed that everything was just too much hassle for them. Also rooms were a bit smelly and dated and there are only steps to the front, which does not help if you have a pram, so not very baby friendly.

Would not stay there again, only saving grace was the location, but there are many others in the same strip. Also the breakfast was nice, actually in hindsight one of the best, but this did not make up for everything else. Bathroom was nice but the floor gets saturated when having a shower as it leaks from under the tub. Very squishy rooms too.

“Better than Expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

Aug 07 Waldorf Rimini, very doubtful after reading reviews, totally wrong, room was excellent overlooking sea, LCD televisions, mini-fridge, modern bathroom the list goes on. Breakfast all cold just what you expect in Italy but plenty of it. The pool was empty every day and swimming lesson for kids every morning 10 - 12, womens jumping about in water 12 - 13.
Only down side you do have to pay on beach 18 euro a day or 95 for week !

“Please dont stay at this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2007

A group of six of us went for 4 nights at the end of May. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is 2mins from the beach, however, so are most of the hotels - so that is by no means unique.

The hotel was in general , appaling. The rooms are old, smelly, and delapadated. Dont be fooled by the pictures of the rooms, on various websites - we were! The rooms really are awful, and are extremely crampled - they basically just shove a bed in somewhere with no concern for the guests comfort.

The hotel swimming pool on the roof looks fantastic, but in reality is smelly, dirty, and not clean enough to use. Inside the hotel is very dated, and literally has not been updated since the 1970's.

Also, on many sites, it lists that they have a private beach, which is a plain lie. They have a very small strip of beach, which was not even ready for use when we went there, and we had to pay to use the beach. They also tried underhand tactics to make us pay for the 5-a-side football pitch - use of which is supposed to be free.

The breakfast was poor, and consisted mainly of packaged biscuits, and packaged cereals. If you get there even a little late, most of the food has gone, and the staff are very rude about replacing it for you.

In general the staff were very rude, and unhelpful, and were more concerned about making money, and even charged us for breakages in the room, yet we did not break anything. They only told us about all this at 6am on the day we were checking out, and to be honest by this point we were just sick and tired of the hotel, so we paid the charges, just to get out of there.

In conclusion, this hotel appears cheap, but you really do get what you pay for. I would never visit this hotel again - if you can, avoid it like the plague.

“Great restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2006

Stayed at the Rimini Waldorf for a long weekend (3 nights) at the end of August 06. The building, like most hotels in Rimini, is a late '60 construction, not very actractive from the outside. The main entrance is grand, with a terrace overlooking the main street in Rimini. The lobby is spacious and well laid out. The rooms, being a 1960 or so hotel are not too big, but not too small either. The forniture is somewhat old and needs to be replaced. On the contrary the bathroom has been recently refurbished with marble tiles, nice and complete fittings. The balcony, overlooking the sea, is quite small, again a 1960 legacy. Overall the room we stayed is just avarage. The hotel has two swimming pools, one on the roof, with a great view of the beach and the city, and a 25mts outdoor pool, which also used for swimming courses. The best part of the hotel is the restaurant. The menu is varied and complete. All our meals (we stayed full board) were above avarage. The menus changes every day with four different selections of first and second courses. There is also a very good buffet of "antipasti" and salads.
The staff is very helpfull and friendly. We had a pleasant and enjoyable stay. Recommended.
