“Beautifully Restored Palazzo, But Unfriendly Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2007

My husband and I stayed one night in order to view the magnificant mosaics of Ravenna. We were impressed with the beautiful renovation of the property, especially the Venetian plastering. The details of the bathroom were exceptional. It is sad that the beauty of the property was overshadowed by the coolness of the staff. I am passionate about Italy, and this was my fourteenth trip there. I've never had reason to criticize a hotel before staying at the Albergo Capello. We wouldn't stay there again.

“Wonderfully friendly staff, great value”

This hotel was palatial / huge compared to some of the other places I stayed at in Italy. It literally had two large bathrooms instead of one tiny one (both of which were covered in wood and marbles).

The service was extraordinarily wonderful, friendly and genuine.
I found myself looking forward to eating a real breakfast here. I will go back here when I go to a mosaic class next year, and I would recommend Ravenna for a more 'down home' and affordable vacation in Italy once you have seen all the typical touristy sites. The folks in Italy are generally really nice, but these people in Ravenna make me want to immigrate here.

They also have a great conference center and the common areas look like fancy ballrooms, they have computer access for emails / remoting and several books to read in the common halls. The restaurants are immaculate and there is a great bar downstairs. They even went to the trouble to send a holiday card after the stay. Nothing but great things here at this place!

“A nice place, in an old city”

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel, however our expectations were not over the top. I did not expect a 5 star room or hotel given the fact that Ravenna does not have that many hotels to begin with. This wasn't the nicest hotel we stayed in, but also not the most expensive.

Ravenna as a whole I was not impressed with. We were there on a Sunday in June and literally EVERYTHING was closed. Even a number of restaurants were not open. We did eat at Osteria del Tempo Perso which was close to the hotel and it was GREAT!

I was very happy with the service and welcome we received. We had to get up early (5am) to get to another small village and the hotel arranged a small package for us to bring with us for breakfast.

Overall I would say that this is a nice hotel for the area and I would stay there again.

“A Gloomy Palazzo”

I spent 2 nights at this hotel in September, and was disappointed with the facilities. The location could not have been better, but the overall feeling I had was depressing. The upstairs large hallway was cold and uninviting, the breakfast was uninspiring, and my room looked "tired" and the lighting was poor. My bathroom was the the best experience in this hotel, and I will not stay there again.

“Excellent Hotel”

I stayed one night and found the interior decoration was so sophisticated. My room-junior suite room named "Verso il Blu" was large, clean and elegant. The room light was little dim but it remained me of the Medieval Italy. The location is ideal for sightseeing as well as shopping.
