“Simple, quiet and strategically located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This is previously a Jolly Italian chain hotel. It is located at a walking distance from the train station and downtown Ravenna. It is particularly convenient if you are driving because you can drive there (many other hotels are within a pedestrian only area and difficult or impossible to reach by car) and has a public parking, free at night, just outside. The hotel is well appointed but simple, has full service and very competent and efficient staff. The rooms have double windows panels and are very quite. The overall price/quality is great.

“Slightly disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

We stayed here for a couple of days between kite festivals.
A great location for proximity to the train station and close enough to the town to walk easily. The room was ok, everything necessary, the bathroom was unexpectedly beautiful compared to the rest of the hotel. Continental buffet breakfast was straightforward and there was a generous time allowed for it and nothing was short when we went down very late one morning. The sockets in the hotel are not european standard, except for one in the bathroom.

I was disappointed that the free wifi was for 30 minutes in the lobby area only, with very strict security.

It is not a business hotel and I have to agree that it is a good 3 star, but disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Whilst I wouldn't object to going here again, it wouldn't be my first choice.

“Convenient hotel to explore Ravenna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

The outside of this hotel is drab but inside all facilities are very good and the hotel is so convenient to the railway station and the centre of Ravenna, which is a lovely town with excellent cultural history and superb shops. The inventiveness of window displays would take some beating, even within much larger towns. A pleasure to window shop - a lost skill in the UK.
Great choice of food at breakfast and the one evening meal I had was good too but there is such a wide choice of restaurants in Ravenna it is worth trying some.
Room and bathroom (yes - a bath) were both good with comfortable beds. The Saturday evening was a bit noisy until external revellers had gone home but not a real problem.
Would recommend to business travellers, couples or families.

“A comfortable hotel in a good location to visit this and near by cities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

The hotel is in a good location. It is only a few minutes walk from the train station and a ten minute walk from the town centre which has a good variety of different cafes and restaurants.

The hotel itself is rated as a 4 star but it is more like a very good 3 star hotel. It does not have car parking but it does overlook a fairly large municipal surface car park.

Rooms at the front of the hotel overlook the car park across to the local police station. Our room overlooked a side street which did not offer a great view but was extremely quiet.

Our bathroom had a bath as well as a shower and was generally of a good size. The room was well insulated against internal and external noise and the air conditioning was quiet and efficient. The room also had a mini-bar; safe and TV which only offered two English speaking Channels. The biggest drawback with our room was its lack of accessible wardrobe and drawer storage space. This could be a real problem for stays longer than 4 days.

The very large double bed was firm but generally comfortable and the duvet was warm without being too hot

The room was kept clean and tidy on a daily basis. The hotel always seemed clean. All the staff we met were always friendly, polite and helpful.

We did not have any lunches or dinners at the hotel but the breakfasts were very good. There was a good range of fruit, yoghurts, cold buffets, bread, toast and pastries and an adequate but limited choice of a hot buffet. The hotel had a small but quite adequate bar

Most of the town is accessible by foot along the semi-pedestrianised roads. However you would need at least two days to explore most of what the town has to offer. But as usual beware of museums being closed on Mondays and shops and other attractions being closed between 13:00 and 16:00 every day. The town is a bit off the usual tourist track and so it is a bit limited in terms of availability of English language newspapers but Internet access is no problem.

Beware the bicycles! In many repects Ravenna is worse than Amsterdam for the number of cyclists in the pedestrian zone!

The hotel would also provide a good base to visit, either by train or car, the city of Bologna but again two days are probably needed for this and the town of Ferrara.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the side street are quieter especially if you prefer natural ventilation at night.

“Good location but old and not worthy the 4*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011 via mobile

Close to the train station just at the entrance of the old town. Poor breakfast, outdated rooms/decoration.
