“Central Park Hotel - recently renovated, stylish rooms, central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stylish hotel with beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Some of the older reviews don't really do justice to the hotel in its present state as it has recently undergone total refurbishment. The hotel staff are very helpful, the breakfast is very good and there is an excellent choice of restaurants in the vicinity. It is about 10-15 minutes on foot from the railway station or five minutes by taxi. Central location (though not facing the park) just five minutes from Piazza Grande and the wonderful medieval cathedral (il Duomo) and campanile (la Ghirlandina) built mainly from the pink and white marble recovered from the remains of the Roman city, with the two historic buildings together classified as a UNESCO world heritage site.
This hotel would be a good choice when visiting Modena and in addition it is only about 15 km by bus to Maranello where you can visit the Galleria Ferrari with its stunning collection of beautiful automobiles that is well worth a visit. In addition in the city centre you might want to buy some Parmesan cheese and/or balsamic vinegar (you should ask for: aceto balsamico tradizionale) at the Gastronomia Giusti in Via Farini, a delicatessen that has been serving fine food since the 1600s, with a very fine restaurant in the back room (just ask at the counter) and next door the Bar Giusti where you can go for a great coffee and later for a light lunch, while admiring the facade of the Palazzo Ducale, that housed the city government in the days when Modena was an independent state, now the home of the Accademia Militare. Another attraction in the city centre, less than 100 metres from Piazza Grande, is the covered market in Via Albinelli, with a wonderful display of fruit, vegetables and cheeses and so on. To round off your trip you might be lucky enough to get tickets for the opera at the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti, within walking distance of the hotel.

“Efficient in Town Stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

The Central Park Hotel is a 4 Star rated hotel just in the old town area of Modena. It's location is ideal for seeing this delightful old town. This is a classic old Italian town that uses the town square as a central focus for many events through the year.

The location of this hotel is also ideal to walk to any of the numerous restaurants in the town. This is essential as the hotel itself does not serve food other than breakfast.

All hotels are well signed in Modena as they need to be, because of the one way systems, and in some cases narrow streets. The Central Park is located between two of the wide streets with plentiful time restricted parking. There is also a limited number of off street parking places for those staying in town who need to avoid the restrictions of the 8:00 am to 19:00hrs parking restrictions on street.

The reception area was substantially refurbished a couple of years ago and is now very modern and bright. A warm reception is always given by the English speaking staff. The reception area also has a small bar that is manned by the reception staff, and also has plentiful comfortable seating around large flat screen TV.

The rooms are located on the upper floors and are accessed via two highly polished lifts! Rooms are of varying sizes but never cramped. As with so many Italian hotels the presentation of the room is with the shutters closed, which gives the room a dark feel. I do not understand why they do this. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning in the summer, wi fi, flat screen TV and tea & coffee facilities. There is adequate clothes hanging space. The bathroom is bright and clean, and has a all the usual complimentary soaps and shampoos. The shower strong and delivers at a stable temperature. The beds are comfortable, on the firm side. There is desk space with close power connections to allow easy working. There is also a stocked mini bar.

As stated earlier, this hotel does not serve food after breakfast which is somewhat against it's four star rating. Breakfast however is severed in a very well presented area in the basement. A wide selection of cereals, cold meats, and breads are offered by the ever helpful and immaculately turned out breakfast staff.

The overall feel of this hotel is that of a quiet efficient hotel, that is very welcoming. One I go back to when staying in Modena centre.

“Quiet location, close to the centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

The room was comfortable with a very nice bathroom. The hotel seems geared more to business travellers but the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The only minuses were a lack of tourist information and the possibility of making a cup of tea!

“Great location and staff, wonderful service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2010

I stayed at this hotel for almost three weeks on business, but with some pleasure on the side as well. From the first day, I received outstanding service from all staff. I don't speak Italian, but almost all of them spoke English. They were always very helpful and patient in answering my questions and I had many of them.
They offer free parking, but you need to leave your key at the front desk. There is no restaurant at the hotel, but there is one great restaurant accross the street and so many others within walking distance. They do offer a free breakfast which was very complete and you can have it in your room if you want. They don't have a fitness center but you can easily walk/run in the city center, which has limited access to cars.
The single rooms are not big, by US standards, but comfortable and with everything you may need. Great experience overall.

“Fantastic Position, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2009

The hotel was ideally situated in a quiet street, opposite the main museums and within easy walking distance to the main attractions. We found it easy to drive to an had on site parking at no extra cost. The staff were friendly and helpful (especially the man at breakfast who went out of his way to keep her happy, even fetching her a whole strawberry!)
The room was spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathroom modern with a fantastic shower.
The only downside was the hotel not having a restaurant for the evening meal, we did however find a wonderful restaurant nearby so we can't complain.
