“Comfortable stay for family”

We stayed here for two nights whle we visitied Ferrari, Lambo and Pangani for my son's birthday. I was a little surprised by the setting of the hotel, because from the hotel's website I was expecting a Villa in the country. In fact, it is right off of a major road, although the back of the hotel opens onto a pool with an expanse of land behind it. It is a few kilometers into town, so this hotel is really suited for people travelling by car - plenty of free parking, as well. and a station with less expensive gas right next door.

The hotel is divided into a 4 star main building and a 3-star annex. We booked a triple room in the 3-star annex, but upon check-in were offered a room in the main building at no extra cost. The room was spatious and the beds firm and comfortable. We had no problem opening the shutters in our room that looked out over the pool. The 15 to 20 m pool was clean and, it was nice to be able to lay in the lounge by the pool with a drink from the bar. There were a few very small but aggressive mosquitos that were a bit unpleasant. There is also a foosball table, a sauna and couple of exercise bikes.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful, and the breakfast varied and plentiful (e.g. scrambled and boiled eggs, as well as an assortment of cerals, cheese, yoghurt etc.

There were a few quirks, such as the room safe not being attached, but overall it was a pleasant stay. If looking for a place to stay in the Modena area, and travelling with kids, this place is a good bet.

“Reliable Friend”

The Mini Hotel Le Ville is my normal choice when in Modena for a few days. It may be a little out of town, 3-4 miles, but it draws me back each time.

Located just outside Baggiovara on the road between Modena and Maranello, home of the Ferrari factory, it is set back off the main road. It consists of 3 buildings. The main hotel and a second block of rooms, that I have never stayed in so cannot comment upon. There is also a separate restaurant building on site that is independent from the hotel. You cannot put your food on the hotel bill. Out the back of the hotel is a well kept swimming pool with sun beds around the edge, in a well kept garden. The hotel also provides bicycles for guests who would like to do some local exploring.

Easy Friendly check in is assured with all receptionists speaking very good to adequate English, German or Italian. Guests rooms are over 3 floors and are of an average size. They are always clean and well presented. A particular quirk of this hotel is that the outside shutters to the windows are always closed so all the time in the room is normally by artificial light. It has never been a problem for me but if you where to spend any amount of day time in the room it would detract. I believe the main reason for this is because of the amount of mosquitoes in the area. May be because of this closed shutter policy I have never been bothered my them on any of my visits but closed all year round? All rooms in the main building have air conditioning. A must in the hot summer weeks. Beds are comfortable and I have always had a good nights sleep.

Bathrooms are spotless and have been well maintained. There is always adequate supply of clean towels, soaps, and shampoo for those who require such.

The hotel has a bar and lounge on the ground floor opposite reception. In the winter comfortable arm chairs are arranged around a welcoming open fire in front of a TV. All adding to the homely feel of this hotel.

Breakfast is served in the main hotel building from 07:00 and is a standard continental buffet.

This hotel will suit both the business traveller, and those on vacation in this region where it can serve as a good base to travel out from with it's easy links to the main towns of the region. I will continue to keep returning. The relaxed atmosphere and gentle service is well appreciated.
