Have stayed with the hotel every year since it opened, , great ,friendly staff ,clean small rooms. As close as one can get to the Railway Station; town just a stroll away - a home fom home for me.

Hotel Principe was booked for being lower cost and proximity to the train station. Pleasant, friendly staff at the hotel counter spoke at least three languages. Clean room, comfortable sleep, no problems, restaurants walkable nearby.

We spent one night at the Hotel Principe as a stopover on our way back to Bergamo. Our room appeared rather dark and dingy on first viewing, mainly because the shutters were closed ( we later discovered it kept the traffic noise down), but it was clean and comfortable with all the basic requirements.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel was very convenient, being only a short walk from the centre of the city, and a short distance from the railway station.
There's a small bar in the hotel, and breakfast, which was perfectly adequate, was served in an adjacent room. Definitely worth considering for a short stayr in Modena, but worth asking if you can have a room that doesn't overlook the main thoroughfare outside, as the traffic was pretty noisy.

We stayed here because we had little choice. Wanted to stay another night in Parma or go on to Bologna but left booking too late. This hotel was near the train station and close walking distance to the old city but was relatively expensive and completely lacking in charm. Dank hallways, dirty carpet in the rooms, dark bathrooms, but at least they were clean.
