“Dissappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

I stayed in this hotel to visit to the Ferrari museum in Maranello nearby. The hotel is literally in the midle of the town and there is a public bus stop barely 50 meters away. Alternatively, the railway station is about 15 minutes' walk away. So, 5 stars for the location.
I can't say the same about the rooms. My first room had a nasty shock. The second time I used the toilet that day (late-ish, at night), it completely refused to flush! After confirming this, the front office decided to move me to another room on another floor, and I had no assistance - so I made about 4 trips between the 2 rooms to move my stuff, not to mention packing an unpacking. The basic issue is that the rooms are old and they have been refurbished "economically and practically". The second room had a toilet flsuh tank bolted on (unlike the first room which had a concealed one) so they must be aware of similar problems. The second room also had an industrial type, very, very, noisy, tbathroom ventilation fan.
The rooms hardly have electrical plug points and the few existing ones are fitted with multiple adapters already connected to the TV, clock etc. You have to unplug something if you want to connect/charge anything. It is very clear that this hotel was built long before the laptop era. The rooms were small, but worse, the bathrooms were tiny, and worn. The shower had the "obligatory" broken shower head holder (a sign of a ill maintaned old hotel) that requires you to hold the shower head throughout. In short, the room was quite well priced, but it is still a poorly refurbished old hotel.

Room Tip: Check the room before checking in!

“A Hidden Gem”

What a fantastic little hotel. Absolutely loved Modena. The staff and everyone in general were fantastic. The hotel was right near the centre and the shops were stunning, very elegant and worth a look at. Modena is an ideal stop for anyone wanting to visit the Ferrrari Factory. If the ladies aren't into cars they can shop while hubbies do the car thing. I actually went to Ferrari and enjoyed it. Please visist Modena you wont be dis\appointed.

“For an exursion to Ferarri”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2009

There aren't a lot of reviews for hotels in Modena, so I wanted to make sure I submitted one. We stayed here for one night so that we could take a private tour down to Maranello to go to the Ferarri Museum. The guy who greeted us at the front desk was really nice and helpful in explaining what there is to do in the town (we were there on May 1, which is a holiday). The room was clean and big, except not lit very well. There was a TV but didn't have very many channels, let alone any english speaking channels. The bathroom was large compared to other Italian hotel rooms, but for one night it was alright! We walked from the train station with backpacks which only took about 10 minutes. Breakfast was a buffet and sufficent.

“Loved the Hotel Liberta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2008

We have just returned from a trip to Europe and the Hotel Liberta lives up to all expectations. We booked a double room but ended up with a suite! The service provided by this family owned Hotel is first class. It is a short walk away from the Duomo and a number of great restaurants and bars. We had dinner at a Pizzeria a few doors down from the Hotel, I'm sorry I did not record its name. We had the best pizza's I have every eaten!
Breakfast was wonderful with a wide selection on offer. We walked from the main train station & it seemed much longer than the 500 meters quoted on the Hotel website but that could have been because we were dragging heavy suitcases. We booked a cab for the return trip and it was well worth the small expense.

“Hotel Liberta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2008

The location is great close to the center of town. The rooms are very clean but my room was no bigger then a walk in closet in my home. The very large skylight with the slopped roof made the room very hot and the A.C. is very poor. They also shut the A.C. off every day when you leave the room so you have to start all over trying to cool the room when you return. The shower is only big enough to stand in and very small. I will show a picture of the room. I was traveling alone so it was ok but very old, the rooms need to be updated. The people were great and ready to help with any questions or directions
