PROS: Location, two minute walk from the train station and very close to the historic center. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to be helpful as we were trying to figure out how to get to Ferrari and Lamborghini by public transportation. Breakfast was like every other buffet I've eaten at in Italy!!! AC worked, which is always a bonus in August!!!!!
CONS: Room was clean but a bit run down, however for the price we didn't mind and we were only staying a night.
Stayed there for at couple of nights to visit Maranello and Ferrari.
Access to the hotel by car was easy, and they offered free parking in front - alternatively 12 euros per night in their garage.
Downtown is just 5 minutes away, as Modena is a really small place, and the front desk gave me a couple of names of restaurants, which both were really good.
Nice for a few days, but you can't spend more than that in Modena :-)
Hotel Europe is the best place to choose if you want to do a one night touch and go via train into Modena for the Museo Ferrari in Maranello. The Hotel is just walking distance from the Train station and very easily reachable. As for the hotel itself, it is a clean place not necessarily very luxurious and good value for the money.
The gentleman at the reception was very helpful at check-in and gave us all necessary info about taking the bus for Maranello. The bus station for Maranello is also a walking distance and bus leaves every 30-45 mins from the same. I was in the hotel with my family and we had 2 rooms . The rooms were clean with clean and well kept bathrooms. The room that I had was bigger and had a bigger bathroom too. The other room was on a different floor and was smaller. We did not eat at the hotel but from the looks of it it seemed to a decent restaurant.
Despite the front desk people and the owner of this hotel are nice people, the hotel is terrible. The mattress was dirty, the carpet is really dated, lost the color and it is dirty. no AC units, no fans. Dated bathroom with dirty shower curtain. I would not stay again unless they will do major renovations.
