“A pleaseant surprise”

I booked a deluxe room online for a very reasonable price, not quite knowing what to expect.
I had a clue when someone from the staff called me a few days before coming, offering a shuttle bus service to Paul McCartney’s concert, organized by the hotel…much appreciated even if not useful for us. The hotel is wonderful. At present it is very nicely decorated for the Christmas season both outside and inside. The concierge and other halls are very large, classical and more of a 5-star than a 4 –star. The room was spotless with a very nice and large balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Flat-screen TV, a locker and a large bathroom were particularly pleasant features, not to speak of the extremely comfortable mattress. I noticed that I had been given a very good deal considering the real price on the room’s door. We asked for more pillows and they were immediately brought to us by efficient, kind and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious, complete and very well served in a nice area. I would definitely go back.

“easy access from airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

My family with 2 kids stayed here for two separate nights during our visit to Tuscany. It was easy to reach this hotel from airport, only 15 minutes or so. Hotel is pretty nicely furnished, lovely pictures, lamps etc. Breakfast was fine: fresh juices, fruits, scrumbled eggs an bacon, youghurt and all this. Our room was junior suite, with extrabed for the 2 years old. They charged 20 euros for that, and other time they charged 20 euros, for making the bed for older kid, with the sofa that was in the room. We travel a lot, and usually You do not have to pay with small kids, and especially if one uses beds that are in the room. Beds were not soft, but this is how it seems to be in Italy. Roomservice was very polite and nice. Reception was not especially warm and kind, cold I would say. This hotel has nothing special for kids, though garden is nice and pool too. It felt that kids are not that welcomed, and this seems to be congresshotel. But it is close to airport, which was important fo us.

“Nice, even nicer now.....”

Several years ago we visited the Savoia, just after it opened it's doors. Not very green, but the vegetation was promising. Now it's becoming greener and greener, and the staff still are very polite and agreeable. This is a very good hotel, not expensive, with a great restaurant (Garganelli).

“Good Hotel but restaurant staff let it down”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here for one night on our drive to Rome. The journey across Switzerland was fine until we crossed the border. The motorway and general driving in Italy is appalling and dangerous and we were glad to arrive at the hotel. The reception area is huge and very ostentatious but all the staff were very friendly and helpful and check in was very quick. We stayed in suite 310 which was beautifully decorated with quality furniture and bathroom fittings and a very fancy shower unit, with lots of shower options. The large double bed however was very hard but it was ok for one night, there was also an additional pull-out sofa. The room was air-condition, with Sky TV and chargeable Internet. There was also a mini bar, tea making facilities and a safe. One thing to note was that the plugs were 3 pins so a normal ‘fat’ pinned continental plug would not fit.
We used the good sized outside pool which was warm and had plenty of sunshades and tables with a well-stocked 'beach bar', very welcoming after the horrendous drive!
The restaurant menu choices were varied and the price was reasonable, we paid € 72 for a two course meal with wine and the smallest espresso coffee, so small it did not fill a teaspoon! The restaurant, however was not a very relaxing experience, too many staff fussing over you and it all felt rushed and we were glad to get back to the relaxation of the beach bar for a night cap. Funny how this only had one bartender to serve lots of people but the restaurant had loads of waiters constantly trawling the tables looking for a plate, spoon or glass to clear.
This was a good hotel deal for 80€ with an included breakfast and we would stay here again, but would dine in smaller less formal restaurant in the local area.

“top class”

weve just left this hotel and have nothing but good to say about it, from the rooms to the facilities everything was excellent, well located to enjoy bologna or also to have a secluded feel due to the gardens around the hotel..garganelli restaurant is well worth a visit as well...plenty of free parking, the only downside and it really is only a small thing, but the bar shuts very early, before 12 on one of our nights..12 the others..
