“Warm, inviting room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My husband and I arrived cold and frustrated after having an awful night's rest in a more expense 4 star in Florence. This hotel was wonderful. When we arrived at the front desk and explained we only hand a few hours to see the city and asked for a tour suggestion. The concierge politely informed us it was impossible given the day/time to get a tour, but give her five minutes and she would call our room. Well, in less than 5 minutes, we received our call and a private tour had been arranged for that evening. The private tour was comparable to prices we have paid for past group tours of 20+ people.

Finally, when we returned from our tour, the hotel owner was greeting guest in the lounge. He offered us a viewing of the ancient walls downstairs (you can view these yourself taking the stairs 1 flight down from the lobby).

The room itself does have the large reading chairs you can sink into, soft beds and an oversized bathroom.

Additionally, the hotel offers complimentry sweets in our rooms, a snack bar in the evening and a lovely continental breakfast that had tons of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, fresh pastries, yogurts and frest pastries.

PS The hotel provides guest free tours on Sundays plus free bike rental anyday.

“Loved Bologna and the Novecento”

We spent five nights in a beautiful deluxe room at the Novecento. We loved the room with two comfortable reading chairs, a large bathroom and a balcony overlooking the quiet square in front of the hotel. We found the staff very helpful and the breakfast delicious. We loved the location a short distance from Piazza Maggiore, and a 15 minute walk from the train station, which we used for day trips to Ravenna and Ferrara. There are some wonderful restaurants in Bologna and we particularly liked Ristorante da Cesari and the modern Italian food at Vicolo Columbino.

“Beautiful, Great Location, Wonderful Staff, Comfy Room”

It started with a few email exchanges with the fabulous Francesco at Art Hotel Novecento who could not have been more helpful as we planned our trip to Bologna. When we arrived, he greeted us warmly, helped us find a perfecto restaurant for dinner, and offered several suggestions for the best way to tour the city and experience its wonderful cuisine. He even booked seats on a train to Venice when the online service said there were none left! The hotel is set in a quiet, ideally located courtyard. It is large enough to offer a range of sophisticated services, yet small enough to make you feel like you are a much-loved and greatly anticipated guest. The breakfast is to die for, the rooms all have high-speed internet, the beds have a way of guaranteeing a perfect sleep, and the staff are all so accommodating and professional. Would go back again and again.

“Not bad if you like paying over 200 euro to sleep in a cupboard”

Well appointed room, but tiny. On arrival, the other person on the business trip was sent to the hotel next door because they had over-booked. The bed was tiny, the room was tiny, the bathrobe was leopard print.

“Lovely, modern interiors but in keeping w/ traditional Bologna.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I don't know why I kept getting lost, it is right behind Piazza Maggiore. Bologna is a gem of a town that is off the conventional tourist track and should NOT be missed. Prices lower than Firenze, which is only 40 mins away by fast-train. Considering it is built in a palazzo that's been standing for many years, they have done a marvelous job of restoration. Every comfort available, including cookies at teatime. Delizioso colazione. It was hot even in mid-September but I didn't mind taking many showers because of all the gorgeous marble. One day my room was not done until after 3, and I was recommended a rather poor restaurant that was pretty far away on my first nite, but those are my only minor complaints. Mille grazie to Christine and Francesco who catered to my every whim and answered so many questions, and to the lovely blonde who tried desperately to get me CNN on 11 Sept -- and succeeded! Internet pc extremely convenient for emails. Would stay again, would recommend w/o reserve. Belissima!
