Being on a driving holiday in our own car, and being the types to worry about where to park it, we were looking for somewhere with a large car park that was still within easy striking distance of Bologna city centre. This fit the bill very nicely - plenty of space, though right on the main road Via San Donato (unlike the sister hotel Savoia Regency, which is set back a couple of hundred yards further, and therefore is much quieter). Even on the top floor and even behind double glazing you do hear the heavy lorries rumble by from 6 a.m., but it wasn't too bad.

The bus stop is 100 yards away and there is a service into the centre of Bologna every 7 minutes for most of the day, and getting back is just as easy. Buses even go 3 times an hour after 9 p.m. It costs just €1.20 each way, and takes about 20 minutes (not far, but plenty of stops). More fun is to take a bicycle - that way you can experience real bologna, which has more bicycles and scooters than cars. The sister hotel will let you take them free of charge and give you padlocks - top tip!

Also, use the sister hotel for the pool (very clean, though smallish) and especially the restaurant, which as others have noted really is excellent. It was warm and so we sat in the outside/ open-sided part and enjoyed a stylish and very tasty meal, reasonably priced at around €80 euro for 2 including wine. This was way better than a normal hotel restaurant, and I am guessing it is run independently in many ways?

Breakfast was no better than average. Room was reasonably large, though not much cupboard/ drawer space. Chambermaid service was good and all staff friendly enough. Overall we paid €460 for 3 nights including breakfast, and saved quite a bit on what it would have cost to stay next door at the Savoia Regency. PLUS the car park was good, Bologna was easy and there is another good restaurant right inside the car park (bizarrely!) which also served very good food at very reasonable prices (€30 -ish for 2 ).

I'd probably give it 3 stars overall for quality, but 4 stars for value and convenience. Oh, and if you don't like the paintings of Jack Vettriano then give the place a wide berth - they practically wallpaper the place with prints of his work!

Beautiful and spacious rooms, friendly personnel and extraordinary nice restaurant

First of all, the pics advertised on different booking websites are totally different than what you get!! Even if they have deluxe rooms advertised, these are awful and 100% different: very very small, decorated in a different way and so on!
Also, what do you say about getting at breakfast spoiled food? We had a prosciuto with bug eggs on it!! I was totally desperate, so I couldn't eat anything the entire day!
Also, at the swimingpool, they charge you for the same products as they wish! First it was 12 euros, secondly 15, other time 14!
Definately is not a 4 star hotel, I would say about 2 stars!
If you want to have a nice holiday, once again, never visit this hotel!

Don't be confused, it looks like a country park as it has trees and open space but it's smack bang in the outskirts of the city and minutes from the autostrade and yards from a busy road. Staff are excellent, organised, professional. Our room was lovely, although you can never escape the hum of the traffic. Breakfast is laid back and comfortable and has a wonderful selection of cold foods. Can't knock it at all. There is a bus stop nearby with buses every ten minutes into the city. Nice bar and open air area but a lot of mosquitoes, so be prepared. We ate at local restaurants as the hotel restaurant didn't look like value for money. I was disappointed not to find tea making facilities in the room as the web page advertises this. Good free wifi and the hotel is very good value for your money.
