Yes, it’s quite a way out of town, but at non-convention times, the value of this hotel is outstanding- actually a give-away. The hotel is located in an industrial/office/farm zone of the city, quiet, but with no charm or local amenities. This did not bother us as we walked Bologna until late and made sure we caught a late bus back to the hotel where the bus line ends conveniently. We never waited for more than 5 minutes for a bus into the city which took approximately 15 or 20 minutes. Bologna is quite a large city so the bus route, which runs all the way to the south end of town provided us with a way to supplement walking without back-tracking.
We had requested a double and were placed in a triple, which was not an issue and although not a large room, had significant storage in the entry hallway. The bathroom was an Italian anomaly- HUGE, yet the shower, which was small and enclosed fully, still managed to flood the bathroom. The accommodations have an oddly colored (by American standards) italo-modern suburban sensibility, but not offensive and very clean. Breakfast was more than adequate and seemingly catered to local businessmen rather than tourists (we were there off season to be clear). Atlho the description might sound a bit off-putting, for the price we paid and for Bologna, this was an unbelievable find and one that I could wholly recommend to anyone who wouldn’t mind the commute. It saved enough money each day to cover a nice meal!
