I stayed at the Millennhotel for one week at the beginning of September 2011.
The location of the hotel was ideal for the short walk to the well served train station (plenty of bus stops are there too) for onward trips or for a stroll down Via Independenza through the many porticos lined with shops and cafes heading towards the centre of Bologna – Piazza Maggiore. The hotel’s street was quiet pretty much all of the time which may be due to it being a one-way road.
The hotel was excellent value for money and included daily breakfast which was ample and varied; enough to suite all tastes (Served from 7am - 10am).
Expect a continental buffet style breakfast with breads (there’s a toaster), meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, a range of fresh fruits, fruit juices, water, yogurts, cereals, jams and other spreads and a selection of cakes both fresh and pre-packed (on all days). There are full coffee and tea making facilities; either made by the helpful breakfast staff from the professional machine behind the bar or from the simple to use self service machine. There were always plenty of tables available in the breakfast room and it was never over-crowded (and on the other hand it was never empty either, which is a good thing!). The efficient breakfast staff always made sure you had everything you needed (which they were always quick to pick up on) and had a very friendly and pleasant manner - a great way to start the day!
Please note this is a review a double room. The bedrooms were cleaned every day, should you need them to be. All towels and toiletries were replaced with fresh ones, as was bedding. The bedrooms had very effective Air Conditioning, a digital TV with SKY (and for those interested most programs could be changed to the original language, which in my case was English). There was a mini-bar in my room which I only used for keeping my own water cool, but there were plenty drinks and a few snacks should you need them (See below for more).
The bed was comfortable, with extra pillows & bedding if needed. The curtains have black-out material to keep the light out in the morning. There was no noise from outside, or none that I noticed.
There is free use of the internet for 50 minutes on the computer near reception just next to the sitting area.
Regarding drinks and snacks; there is a small shop/mini-market over the road from the hotel which sells plenty of things like snacks, alcohol and bottled water. There’s also a large Coop Supermarket on Via Montebello off the wide street Via dei Mille (the 2nd road parallel to the hotel’s street - Via Cesare Boldrini heading towards the centre), it’s just down the side of the Oviesse / OVS clothes store.
I found the Millennhotel to be a great hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff (parlo poco Italiano) and I’d honestly recommend this hotel to all friends, family and anyone in need of a well located, decent hotel - and I would (and hopefully will) definitely return again.
