Loved this hotel. Stayed here when we went to Bologna and Maranello.

It's way out in the middle of nowhere, a car is essential. Our room was massive and lovely, 4 poster bed. We arrived here late at night and it was quite hard to find but we were relieved when we did because it is lovely. A 14th century monastery if I remember correctly? Beautiful gardens which we woke up to the next day and it looks like it would be a fab wedding venue.

We only stayed one night whilst we were touring the area. As it is pretty isolated we ate in the hotel, the food was gorgeous. I was given a small stool specifically for my handbag, very posh! Also, my menu didn't have prices on it whilst my others halfs did. I thought this was a nice old fashioned romantic touch although you might be in danger of ordering the dearest thing on the menu without realising it!

All in all a lovely hotel, Didn't have much dealings with the staff so can't say much about them but they seemed ok. Gorgeous location and try and visit Dozza if you go, it's a lovely small town built on top of a hill.

Stayed here a year and bit ago, I had reserved on line and upon arrival they found our reservation but nearly did'nt let us check in as I had not printed the on line voucher. There was the manager who served us, funny woman very stern. Had reserved a Junior suite for 1 night only fortunately, as it was cold, the bed was hard and rocked and the jacuzzi was broken.
Breakfast: we found the waiter half a sleep leaning up against a table, as the hotel was empy, breafast was too, what was there was quite sad. Have not fond memories of this hotel, it is a petty because the location is a dream with mouthwatering views, they could do more with it.

I stayed in Monte del Re from April9-12 to attend a wedding that was taking place there.The room was booked by the bride since i went to do hair and makeup being that i am a stylist.l must say that the hotel is beautiful.For anyone considering a wedding in Italy,this hotel is the place.The food was magnifecent,catered by the hotel restaurant.The service impecable. The room i was given had beautiful views of the country side as well as the terrace and pool area. I went with my business partner and we both agree that our stay at Monte del Rey was one not to be forgotten. We did not have a car so we ordered taxis to go down to Dozza(a medieval town 4 km away).We almost walked since the lady at the reception desk told us it was only 2km and we could walk,but boy i am glad we called a taxi.The taxi of course charged us a ridiculous amount 15 euro each way for 4 km.Next day we wanted to catch a train from Imola to Rimini and one of the workers at the hotel,very nice man,offered to take us for 10 euros.If you want to have a really good meal try La Scuderia a.restaurant at the entrance of Dozza.It was great and nice ambiance.Overall it was a wonderful experience.The whole staff was great and very attentive.

This is a very pretty hotel with a great outlook and amazing pool. However we booked on a weekend and had terrible service the whole time because of the fact there was a wedding on both days we were there.

The best (worst?) example is, bearing in mind this hotel is in a middle of nowhere location, they initially refused to let us eat in the hotel restaurant as they were 'fully booked'. At no time during check in were we told to book the restaurant if we wanted to eat there, and the fact there were only three occupied tables when we were refused was unforgivable.

I was also very annoyed to travel out to this country hotel (at least half an hour from Bologna) and be given a room with a view of an internal courtyard roof instead of the countryside view that 90% of the rooms must have had. When we tried to change rooms at 2.00 in the afternoon, apparently they were 'fully booked' and we couldn't change.
